Rob, I sent the engine back to YS so hopefully it's covered by warranty. I was worried about the carb just like you said and the regular parts need replaced. Hopefully they take care of it.
Does BOCA make a good rear bearing? I'll have to dig through their website.

It's what I chose to install the last time I replaced bearings in both my YS engines and an OS55HZR I rebuilt. Not much run time on them yet, however. They certainly have good reputation. Others seemed to think their stainless steel bearings are a good option. I didn't try their hybrid ceramics yet, bu they have a good reputation. The ceramics get pretty pricey. I will try them eventually, just for the heck of it.

That's good to know, other than ordering O.S. parts from Tower. Not my preference. YS parts are pricey, that's for sure.
Heli$ - Any news from Richard, yet?

OK GUYS, when I do full inverted punchouts, the heli goes up,at about half the speed as upright. Seems like there is more smoke to. Any suggestions?

Check your pitch range. If the engine rpm drops, then that's a different matter. If the engine rpm isn't dropping, I bet your pitch travel is mis-adjusted.

Pretty sure the collective is equal within a 10th of a percent. I'll double check though since maybe it got adjusted accidentally thru Vbar software.

I thought mine was too. I then rechecked, and found I had like 15 negative collective, and 10 positive!

Yikes. I'll check it when I get back from vacation. Don't worry I have my X5 with me.

YS 91SRX DRIVING ME CRAZY
I recently turned the governor off and am running 2 v-curves since it was interfering with the tuning. As usual, the engine runs great at lower rpm but when I go to Idle 2 the heli leans out in hover or recovery after a big power move. It seems to overspeed and start screaming and it will then recover after I manually decrease the rpm via idle 1.
When the engine used to be governed at idle 2, the engine would surge because every time it increased rpm to 2000 unloaded, it would lean out and overspeed. The governor would then decrease the throttle and the engine would recover followed by another attempt to increase rpm and another lean out. I've richened the mid so much where fuel drips out of pipe at the lower rpm but it will still lean out after power moves at the higher rpm. I've also richened the low to the point where the engine barely idles. The high seems OK. THE HELI DOES NOT LEAN OUT DURING CONTINUOUS FAST TIC TOCS. Below are items I have very recently completed to try to fix the problem. 1. New fuel tank system with MOAS 2. New fuel lines and check valve 3. I took engine apart and cleaned it and made sure all orifices were clear 4. Replaced diaphragm in fuel pump. 5. Reattached manifold with the red gasket sealer. Please help, I'm getting to the point where I may get rid of the engine!

Not knowing what all engines you have experience with, I'm only bringing this up because this kicked my ass when I was trying to tune my 91SRX while I was running OS engines on my other helis. Based on a couple of your posts seems like it's a very slight possibility... Make sure you're adjusting the needle that you think you are since they're opposite of OS. I kept adjusting the mid needle when I thought I was adjusting the high needle on my 91SRX. I ended up destroying all the internals in mine, in the beginning, because of it.

I just double checked the manual and I've been adjusting the correct needles. Hover needle is the long one and the high is the short one.
Thanks Rodney.

Well, that's good, at least. Based on your description, it sounds to me like you need to make the high needle richer, though, not the mid.

I'll give it a shot. I'm already way rich of the recommended settings of manual. Full power maneuvers are fine, it's just the recovery where it gets lean. It also leans with no load and around 2000ish rpm.

I ended up having to run mine richer than the manual stated.

I wonder if it's really going lean? I chucked a magnet from my clutch bell last week, and it started really screaming. I brought it down on throttle hold.
Didn't know it was a magnet at the time, I figured it was the sensor. It wasn't lean, just overrevving. Recovering from a move, you might need a lower setting on that part of your throttle curve. I've never flown mine on a curve, simply kept on the governor, so I might be all wet on this.

Good insight Rodney and Rob, I did bring the bottom of the curve down 5 points to 55 thinking the same thing. I'll drop it another 3 % next time I get out and enrichen the high more.
I'm pretty sure the mid is too rich now due to fuel DRIPPING out and a shaky tail. I'm going to lean the mid out to where I know it runs good in a lower RPM HOVER. Thanks for the responses!

I hope you can get it sorted. Has been a tough time for you this season on this engine. I just want you to enjoy it as much as I do mine. It's an incredible engine. Has torque for days.

Thanks Rob. I appreciate the sympathy. I maidened the engine last November and have never had it running well except below 2000 rpm. I've spent lots of time and research since I'm OCD, and so far it hasn't helped. Frustrating to say the least.
I'll give her another shot this week and if all else fails, I'll just run it at 1900ish rpm.
