Default Compass Build Series Chronos Optical Upgrade vid

The build series is back finally! Here is part 2 of this series going through the optical additions like landing skids, frame supports, canopy, etc using my venerable 7hv. No going back now! Any questions, just let me know.

Compass Build Series - Chronos Upgrade pt2 Optical (13 min 48 sec)

Terrific video, Scott. Thanks for providing it!

It's amazing how much the new canopy transforms the look. It's longer, so it covers the aft end of the frames all the way to the boom. Sweet!

No, but I just "re-pre-ordered" it Thursday. ProStar is always great about shipping once their stock arrives, so I either am on the list, or they are still in customs, I guess.

Thanks guys! I'll have one more coming for the juicy bits, but I definitely agree the Chronos canopy really makes it it's own heli. I have it on display at home and when I first see it I sure think it's a new model, which is really cool. A family resemblance for sure but it just transforms the look. At first I was thinking it wasn't different enough, but once I put it on, it was a much bigger difference.

The good news is the original canopy will still work for those that prefer that style and have those custom canopies already for the 7hv, keeping that front lg tab and using the old standoff in the rear (shorter) the old one still fits like it did. Using the new canopy I would say will require at least the front frame stiffeners with quick release and the new standoffs in the back. With the holes predrilled in the canopy and the front tab not lining up with the thinner skids, I don't think it would be a clean install just the new canopy alone on the 7hv.

I am looking more forward to actually receiving the upgrade hardware. No easy feat. Distribution of goods isn't a high point for Compass right now.

Can't you cancel the order and purchased it from the Compass international shop?

I've actually canceled it once before for a number of reasons. But, eventually, I decided I am really interested in the improvements. I am not apt to cancel again, and make more issue of it with ProStar. I repsect Mike J and wish the best for ProStar. I am sure it will make it eventually.

It just seems for whatever reasons, that Compass product is becoming not as available. Path for ProStar ordering seems torturous. True, they have the Shop-Compass Model Store, and ProStar is carrying piece parts for the helis, but for a down market, it's still not a buyer's market.

Shop-Compassmodel.com is indeed another option. However, there's no tracking on the shipments. They provided a tracking number, but linked to nothing. I am not thrilled to order a $425 package with an enclosed canopy in this way. I saw in this review how little protection the canopy had in the kit Scott received. Not that the Shop-Compassmodel.com doesn't protect the shipment! They so ridiculously overwrapped and padded a large box to ship my 6HVU blade caddy that it was hilarious! I guess they made up for my high shipping on a cheap item with padding, LOL. And that hard piece of nicely cut foam arrived in Michigan rather safely.
