Bob,

Some of us have mounted the TJ style sensor on the outside of the frame. I personally feel it's much easier to service once the machine is built up. What are your thoughts?

I looked at trying to do it on the outside but couldnt get it to line up with the magnet. The only way I saw to do that was to bend the sensor over directly on the frame and I didnt want to epoxy it direct to the frame. I could have moved the sensor to mount on the bracket but would have had to drill holes in the frame and didnt want to do that.

If you have some pics of how you mounted it ont he outside show them for folks to use please.

Bob

Bob, I mounted the sensor(ATG) as on your video, but installing plastic fan case (sorry I don't remember the right name for the thing ) I found that it is necessary to trim additional space for the sensor in it

You don't need them if you are careful not to torque the screws so tightly that you crush the grommet completely (which would practically negate the grommet's damping ability).
Thanx helical.

First Bob I want to make it clear I'm not criticizing your instructions in any way. They are excellent. This is just a different way to do it. Not as clean as your install but I like it accessible. I had to cut the fan shroud a little. I CA'd it to the frame than added the tie-wrap. It will be easy to remove if I need to. I had to have it shifted to the left to get it over the magnet.

Cool thanks for the pics. Yea I figured you needed to mod some things to get it on the outside. Thanks for sharing and so you know I didnt consider you were criticizing
So there you have it folks another way to mount the sensor.

I personally didnt like the Align design having the sensor behind the frame. Once all the servos are in it WILL make it a pain to service the sensor.

I have flimed a bunch tonight and need time to set them up and compress them. Sorry this is going slower than my usual pace because things are FAR more technical. Please hang in there as I will get them up as soon as I can.

I do have a day job so there is only so much I can do and also participate in the forums here and answer questions!

No sorry.... I will be using the GV1 and ATG. Maybe later I can do the multigov but I bet you that showing the basics that I will show can be used on most govs. In fact that makes me think I should do a principles of operation on what a gov does!

Bob

That would be a good vid - one I would certainly benefit from and I sure many others too.

Yes we definately love the vids. I think this site would only be half as good if it had no vids. Just my opinion though.

I remember you saying something about the fuel tank, on one of the vids, so hopefully we'll see that one soon. The guy who works at Ultimate told me that his stock align clunk line split at the end, and that the clunk had come off and he lost power but was able to auto it to safety.

I have shot a BUNCH of vids and because this series is much more technical I have to do work getting them together.

Sorry for the delays! I will be posting a BUNCH of vids this week so stay tuned!

Smile Just got mine today!

Just got mine today!

Anybody know about issues with the 2 in 1???

The UK distributor has stopped selling the 2 in 1 align regulators after a number of heli have gone down due to it failing.

Just my luck, I also got the align blades that have just been recalled.

Big build session planned for tonight, all Bob's vids (thus far) converted to divx ready for use on the big TV!

I think I remember reading another post about a guy who had lost a heli as one of the wires on his Align regulator had snapped away from the PCB and there have been other similar reports too, this could be why.

Bob, are you going to be doing a section explaining radio set up for a governor? I assume all you do is assign a switch to the governor to toggle between pitch curves and governor mode??? I may be way way off but am just trying to get things figured out before I go buy my 600N for next summer.
