Default Thank you Seti!

I just got an email informing me of a $200 gift certificate at ReadyMadeRC from Seti for the effort! Thanks Seti and I promise to try to hold my end of this up.

I'm gonna post a least shortly of where we're at with parts. I think we're nearly there as far as the basic platform is concerned.

Your welcome.

Maybe do a little building post and video some test flights when you get to that point.

That's exactly what I'm going to do, right here as soon as I start. So far we have (in hand or on the way):
  • f450 frame kit
  • 4 Turnigy 20A ESCs
  • Dragon Link UHF RX
  • FPV Cam
  • VTX
  • KK5.5 controller board
  • $200 RMRC certificate for an OSD (and something else I think, as $200 is more than what's needed for most OSDs)
If I've forgotten anything anyone here has sent or committed to, please chime in and I'll add it to the list. It looks like right now we need a battery (I may have a suitable one though) and motors/props.

Airworks (who I haven't seen lately - hope he's okay) might be able to cook something up. I believe he designs graphics professionally.

Have you had any luck contacting research groups at the volcano? Any support?

Has the prop selection been made yet?
I have a set of 9x4.7 CF props and a set of 10x4.5 CF that I can send...they are stiff as a board and would stand up to a lot more heat before turning to Linguini...

@Seti, no, but I haven't even tried yet. When I get further along with putting it together and testing her, I'll make some calls.

@PTcaflyer, those 10x4.5s might be just the ticket.

@Sailingeric, the frame and camera arrived today. Time to start building!!

They are going in the box tonight...they are used, but were balanced before test flown and did do some "Trimming" on one of my Iris plants in my front yard...Let me know what the motor shaft Dia. is and I'll include the propa spacea....We postponed our Yard Sale until Sunday so I can sleep in in the morning and go to the P.O. at my leisure....

Hmm.. well the motor shaft diameter is still an unknown, but if you want to wait to send them until we round up motors, that's fine. Or, if you want to send them along, I have a few spacers which may do the job, or I can order some. Whatever you decide, it's appreciated!

...Two of them have 6mm spacer rings already so I'll include two more...if the shafts are different, then you may have something that will work...these are Anodized Alum. rings.
I will also send 4 qty. 5" long male-male servo leads to go from the KK 5.5 to the RX and plastic FC stand offs...only had 2 qty 3mm Nylock nuts left...

Hey thanks! I'm sure we'll make it work. Much appreciated and hopefully we're going to get some awesome video. Maybe we should start a youTube 'Team Lavaquad' channel!

Total Fiction. Just for amusement.

We fly over the lava filled caldron. The temps are insanely high. The microphone on the quad picks up a popping sound. Fearing the worst the mission is aborted and the quad is flown back to base. Oddly the popping sound is still being heard.
One of the crew picks up the still smoking quad only to find some joker on the flight crew has attached a Jiffy Pop popcorn popper to the bottom of the quad. When confronted his reply was, "It's my lunch."
We we're laughing so hard we didn't have the heart to fire him. Word got back to Jiffy Pop and they came on as a sponsor.

Total Fiction. Just for amusement.

Wouldn't that be funny...
