Default Which Motor for an IC to electric conversion?

I am looking into the possibility of buying and converting a nitro model to electric.

How do you decide which motor to use?
Which ESC to use?
Which prop to use?
Which cell ratings to use (3s, 4s, 6s)?

Not sure how to pick the right setup.

Any advice welcome.

A good way to start is to look and see if there is an electric version of the plane you wish to convert.

If that doesnt work out, have a look to see if anybody else has converted one yet. ... failing that ..... have a look at the specs for a similar sized electric model.

If you want to do it from calculations then have a look at the many online calculators that are on the net..... I tend to use webocalc.

Forgot to say .... let us know what model you have and I'll see if I can come up with a solution for you.

A rough rule of thumb is as follows..

Slow Flyer/ High Wing 60-80 watts/lbs
Sport / Warbird 80-130 watts/lbs
Aerobatic 130-180 watts/lbs
Extreme 3D 200+ watts/lbs

All you need is your AUW ( All up weight) and look at the table above.
So if you have a sport model weighing at 10lbs fully laden
We then need a motor with a wattage of 10lbs x 130w/lbs = 1,300w

I also pick planks that use the same battery packs that I use in my heli's.for example, the extreme flight 70" extra uses the same packs as my trex550. that way, no extra packs to buy.

Forgot about this thread, didn't realise it had been answered.

Well I ended up with an old Twist 40, the yellow one. Fly's nice but not as well as my friends nitro version. Still its a cool plane lots of fun and seems to take everything I can throw at it which isnt a lot. Now if only I knew how to land it!!!!!!!!
