Default First flight on DIY night blades

I just flew my DIY night blades on my T-Rex 450. The flight went fine and I can see the LEDs against a dark background in daylight. But I did two flights and both times the model bounces up and down just before liftoff. Has anyone else seen this?

The four prior flights today with plain blades (same make and model, but no LEDs) did not show any tendency to bounce up and down before liftoff.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Roger

Its very easy to add vibration when you make your own night blades, either through unbalanced blades or just added turbulence.

Did you rebalance the blades after making them, and do you see any sign of vibration in flight?

Once you've ruled out vibration I generally just accept they're not going to perform quite as well as stock blades and fly through it.

The blades balanced with just a small piece of Scotch tape. The ground track was good, but in flight tracking was off and one turn of the pitch link fixed it, There was no vibration In flight, so maybe it is just the turbulence of the stuff on the blade as you suggest.

Thanks,
Roger

Nice where you flying at night? I just ordered some blades to put LED on for my 700

Maybe have to tweak gains a little with the heavier blades I had to lower main gain a couple points.
