Default New E-Flite products soon?

I sent Hobby Horizon an e-mail, asking them to consider producing an SR sized heli with belt drive. This is what I got in response:

Thanks for your suggestion. There are a lot of new features coming from
Blade, watch in the near future.

It's going to be interesting to see what they're cooking up over there!

Sounds cool. Probably will be a mini 400 though, and will cause you to do mods to start with though.

Isn't that usually the case with E-Flite? LOL

I've gone the route of wanting a TT for the SR. All it needs is a new main gear (or bolt on bevel gear similar to the belt mod's as far as mounting), a molded bearing carrier to fit in that big cavity above the main gear, and the tail box. There may be a clearance issue between the top of the front TT gear and the frame depending on how big the gear needs to be. May be a little too sensetive to impacts for their "target market" though.

I hope it's an MCP but I just know they'll ruin at least the first version with a tail motor. I guess I should look at it as they are going to perfect the head setup and electronics and get it out and beta tested (sold to us) for further development and debugging (us) while honing in the TT tail setup. The 120SR got me excited since it thought it was a small SR, not th big MSR!?! Dang it!

Bind-n-fly please!

It does sound like a mini B400. Stock servos shouldn't strip as easily in this size if they are doing OK in the SR.

Don't count on E-Flite to do it right, they never do. Whatever they come out with will need alot of upgrades to make it right, RC helicopters that is. They get the airplanes sort of right.

So far E-Flight has only one good CP helicopter that flys right out of the box,

CP Pro2

Blade CP, total junk, CP+, what the blankie blank , junk, CP pro what the!!!@@!!!! not total junk but not really that good out of the box, CP Pro 2 very good flyer right out of the box with all stock parts. SR, well I'm not done testing it yet but I would say I don't like it as much as the Pro2 for sure. I will say that I enjoy flying the SR so far, not crashed it yet but to many upgrades to push it out of just flopin around IMHO. At this point I will not be using it for our R/C Helicopter School. I would never tell a new pilot to get one. If they aready have one thats fine, I can help them move forward with it. I have hope that the stuff I'm seeing can be worked out.

Interesting viewpoint The CP Pro 2 is my first CP and one of my favorites. I never flew the SR so I can't really say anything about it. If the new incarnation is a belt driven SR with the responsiveness of the CP Pro 2, then they might have something. Here's hoping...

One of my son's and I run a Local R/C Helicopter/Airplane Flight school. This makes me hunt for R/C Helicopters that fly well for new pilot's that can't pay out big bucks for a T-Rex. Also New pilots show up with all kinds of RC Helicopters which makes me test the airframes when I can. E-Flights Pro2 right now is our number one low cost trainer R/C Helicopter for the school. Takes you out of the box from hover to lite 3d. Followed by the T-Rex 450's as far as numbers of helicopters. IMHO E-Flight droped the ball with this SR as its of the old school thinking ( Buy this trainer ,So Simple to fly anyone can do it ) What to do after you can hover? Oh ya buy upgrades or a new helicopter.

If you sale R/C Helicopters this is a good thing, if your a new pilot with not alot of money it really sucks to buy a helicopter which will not teach you much more than hover.

Then shell out more money for a new better helicopter. IMHO The SR was a very bad idea with good looks. Maybe an SR se with belt drive in the works? They would of been better off making a CP Pro2 se. Belt drive. I guess if they drop the CP Pro2 , I'll find a new trainer, not the 1st time I've had to hunt (Axe CPv1 Junk Lipo's ring a bell?)

my sr flies great for what it is with just a few simple mods, dx6i and a good set up... i mean it aint no t rex or any thing like that but i thought it was awesome to learn on and llearn basic 3d moves... i dont thing it can handle any thing more that the basic 3d moves

they should put in the instruction manual that after you are ready to start flying it at a field to add more shims, better o rings, cp blades and all of that good stuff.

Its the Radio that stops this from being a good helicopter out of the box.

+1

I've read that the stock radio for the SR has milder settings.

It's also the heavy main blades that overwork the tail, the tail that has moderate holding at best, and the ultra soft boom strike inducing dampers. The beauty is that once you fix and upgrade all this and more it's a halfway alright heli, not great by any means but decent. It did teach me that I need a better heli after I learned how to fly it, so it does have it's upsides.

As long as it doesn't chase its own tail from time to time, it will be fine.

I was going to save up for the belt mod so this kind of stuff doesn't happen anymore. it's only $150, but I still need to recover from buying a 450. I'm not about to kick my Sr to the curb yet.

It seems like the tail is more troublesome in the SR than it is in the CP Pro 2. I'm I just hearing things or is this true? They both have the same tail.
