Trex 800 skids on 700
I bought some 800 skids for my 700 dfc as I've seen many others put on their 700's. The canopy will not fit now. This will be easily remedied by grinding off some of the front portion of the skids where they attach to the body, but my question is- is this normal? Everywhere I've seen says they should be a direct fit with no issues.

I had no issues fiting the skids on T700. They were a direct replacement and I did not have to grind off anything.
One word of caution though. At first I used the stock screws that I had on the T700 skids.... but on the second flight after I replaced the skids, the helicopter just "collapsed" under it's own weight. I don't think I came down hard... but the screws gave in and the T800 skids are two pieces instead of one. So I would suggest you use longer screws on the T800 skids. That worked for me... No issues since then. gh |

I had to grind off a bit on the front so it wouldn't rub canopy. I also had to grind the back since the tail boom support was interfering.

What's the benefit of the 800 skids on the 700? I'd like some lower profile skids, and a taller one in back than in front.

The place where I fly has uneven ground with grass... That is cut most of the time... It is basically a field that is not planted (corn and wheat on both sides)... So when I landed my Trex 600 PRO the tail blades regularly hit the grass and/or ground resulting in stripped front TT gears. I got bored of stripping the helicopter down after each flight and the taller skids were the cure for that.
So I changed out the landing skids on all my helicopters and haven't had any problems since then... Gh |

Ended up just grinding down the front and rear edges as they were blocking the canopy and tail supports. Didn't have to take off too much.
As for the 600 TT gears getting stripped, I have that same issue with my 550 and am on my third gear set. I put a 550L tail fin on it now, which is longer and touches the ground to remedy this.

They are designed for the new, narrow frame, 700e and 700n.
On my 700n v2, they do not line up no matter how you place them. I ended up drilling and tapping new mounting holes in the front cross brace that are about 7mm behind the stock holes. |

I have a current DFC body 700, the holes line up ,the ends of the skids were the problem. A few millimeters longer than the frame, probably since they were designed for the 800 frame...but they say 700 compatible everywhere.
