There are now electronic derailleurs that shift perfectly every time, and new aerodynamic bicycles that actually reduce drag by 10%.

I'm well past my bicycle racing years, and now I just go out for excercise. Back when I was riding 350 miles every week, I would have been all over all this technology.

You should see the crap I got for my ski boat. It had a speed control system that adjusted the throttle 200 times per second, had a magnetic timing system, and allowed me to adjust for crew weight, skier weight and wind direction. ( There were other variables I set based on how smooth a skier was ) I never even entered a slalom skiing competition, but for 10 years I had all the equipment I could ever dream of.

I really need to be mountain biking more and playing with my helicopters less. This hobby doesn't really have any health benefits.

Well you get the sweat and racing heart beats when you fly, I think that counts as a sport

now it does get you outside in fresh air & there is some walking involved... compared to sitting in front of the TV

Well, my wife and I have a combination media room / exercise room.

Usually when we watch TV down there we are lifting weights, riding our bikes or on an eliptical trainer or Rowing machine.

We exercise to Sci Fi series. So far:

Farscape, Babylon 5, Stargate SG-1, Andromeda
Currently going through Battlestar Galactica.

Otherwise the TV is just on in the background.

Maybe I should mention that my wife was an aerobics instructor while she was working her way through Graduate School. I raced bicycles with a team for a number of years. I work from home now and sit in front of 3 24" monitors all day. I have to make sure to get up periodically because I don't like being sedentary.

Good selection of series.
After BSG, get Caprica. (and SG Atlantis of course)
I am sort of lazy computer geek, which needed some hobby which will get me out in the nature, so helis seems to done that.
It seems i also found a hobby for the winter (maybe not only) time - guns.
Looks like it is a hobby very similar to flying helis (expensive, search for places where you can do it, endless search for perfect/satisfying equipment, mechanical, destructive, with training mainly for your brain and fingers).
BTW, i can afford only one 24" monitor.

+1 and also very nice hobby due to the technical part, and social. Really glad I tried this again.

I like helis, helis avoid me, my brain works but my fingers avoid my brain and my helis avoid my brains AND my fingers. What my helis don't avoid is the ground so my conclusion is: my helis like the ground.

Buck Rogers is pretty dated, and REALLY cheezy!
Quantum leap isn't the type of Sci-Fi I'm looking for. I'm really looking more for futuristic stuff rather than visiting history.

I got "Sliders" but lost interest very quickly. That is sort of like quantum leap but into parallel universes.

I had actually considered Space 1999, but decided against that.
UFO was another that I decided against.
FireFly was too short lived.

Maybe I could get some of the older Dr. Who episodes, but I've seen all the recent stuff.

I've seen all the Star Trek, Star Trek Next Generation episodes.
Deep Space 9 was "OK", I lost interest after that.
I did see all the Enterprise episodes.

Says who?

Her role in that series reminds me of Sigourney Weaver's role in Galaxy Quest.

She got to be rescued and look upset when Buck looked at another girl.

FireFly/Serenity is my most liked SF series, maybe because it is a bit different then anything else.

Banshee... why we should talk about it when we have TDR, i see there is no interest to stay on topic.
