Default TotalG V2 in the works

Had a chance to talk with Curtis this weekend at SRC. We were discussing the new Rave 635 he is coming out with later this year. Got to talking about the FBL unit (no case) that he was using. Turns out it is the prototype for the TotalG V2. Sweet flying unit that looks to be similar in size to an SK540 (just an eyeball guess). Curtis said the new electronic governor software had just been finished and testing would be starting on it shortly. Can't wait for the release of the new TotalG, looks like it is going to be a winner.

So it will be completely new unit design rather than upgrading from old TG. Wondering if new software can be run on old TG unit.

hoping that new software will allow both units to use s.bus with out the cheesy satellite adapter cord like skookum's worst part about the sat's is that tiny plug that degrades over time. Smaller, cheaper, increased functionality and built like a brick shit house... that's what I'm hoping for.

Is the new version the reason I just got a Total-G for $75 new at my local hobby shop? Is the product going to be discontinued? Hope there will be support for it for awhile, but at $75 I don't think I can go wrong..

Total G will be supported. The new version won't be out for a few months at best (haven't heard any dates at all actually but it's the "brain" of the new Stingray 3D Quad that should be out later this summer). If you have any issues with it, post the questions up here or PM a team member. If we don't know the answer, we can get you pointed in the right direction. Also you can always contact the brain trust at CurtisYoungblood.com

Where are they selling the new Total-G for $75?

I have gone through my FBL units all again on my helis recently, 3GX, BeastX, miniVbar, and Total G. Total G has a pretty steep learning curve for setting up due to PC software but I still think Total G one of the best once set up correctly.

It was a close out sale at Great Hobbies in Canada. Not sure why... just clicked "Order Now" ask questions later... "Start the car! Start the car!"

I'm still pretty much a beginner both a building and flying, but I can do flips now and a little inverted and I'm starting to understand where the differences are in a good quality FBL system.

Right now, the gyro I have on a 450 doesn't hold the tail through a flip. The gyro on one of my 500's does... I'm starting to "get it".

Anyway, for the money I had to try it out. Hel, for that kind of money I could get a copterx or tarot... I have to assume the total G is a little better than those...

Anyway.. DSMX? I can't seem to find a straight answer in my searches. I've updated to the latest firmware on the total G and have a dsmX sat plugged in to port 1, but can't get it to bind in dsmX mode, only dsm2. Is there an update that requires sending the total G back to CJYE?

You need to send it to Curtis for the DSMX/failsafe update. Don't have the number handy, just Google Curtis Youngblood and it will come up. This is still one of the best fbl controllers out there in my opinion. You need to watch the YouTube tutorials and read the manual carefully and then setup will be a snap.

Ahhh. Ok thanks... that's a bit disappointing, but I have a new ar7200bx to play with until I get around to sending this in.

No dsmx and no analog servos... I'll have to put this one on the shelf for awhile.

It melted one of my cyclic servos, so now I can't even go back to the old copterX gyro...

Ebay here we come....
