Hi all, sorry for hijacking this thread... but wanna ask...

If i used a hand pump blower (for cleaning camera equipment) to try to blow thru the check valve on both ends, will I have damaged it?

I only lightly pumped but i could feel resistance from both ends. I thought one end would have allowed me to blow right thru, but it didn't feel like that.

So can I still safely use the check valve now? Or will I have to buy a replacement?

Hard to tell if you damaged it or not but I would say that is not a good idea. Open it up carefully and check the diaphragm. you should be able to blow gently through the side with the mark and not from the other side.

Opened up my check valve just now, and its actually quite a simple device.

It unscrews at the line which is supposed to be nearer the fuel tank side. First thing you'll notice is the O-ring.

After unscrewing, i can see a spring and a centre 'hub' which centres the spring in one side of the casing.

On the other half of the casing is a loose clear (plastic i think) diaphragm, which is pressed down by the spring in the other half of the casing. So when pressurised air from the engine goes through the side with the diaphragm, the spring is compressed and allows air to go through.

So basically its a one-way valve that ensures air pressure from the tank won't go back past the check valve.

Just sharing with those that may be as clueless as I was haha.
