Default MA Whiplash 90E Build Video Series

I wanted to take the time and do a good build video on the Whiplash 90. I was inspired by how the great "Finless Bob" produces his videos so I inadvertantly ended up with a video with that same feel, but Bob is still the best!

I have broken the build up into sections, I wanted to do it in 3 days, so 3 videos. But time kept getting away from me and it ended up being 5. I am covering the air frame build, Electronics placement, and FBL setup for my VBar. I offer a few insights into minor mistakes that I caught myself making during the build, but so far it's a very straigh forward build.

My hope in doing this is to not only show off a great Helicopter, but help answer questions about the Whiplash as well as the build and setup of a large 90 sized electric bird.

P.S. Sorry for not staying in frame better at parts. I am new to this upside down tripod stuff.

Great video. Quick ? I am using the Outrage 9188 servo's do I need the spacers? (BTW it's a nitro bird). Appreciate it.

Honestly, I am not sure. The outrage servos have a taller case than some, so I would think no, but it's not a huge problem to add them if you test fit them before you mount the motor.

I can tell eveyone to test your servos and the optional front servo spacer with your servo horns before you bolt them up. You may or may not need them.

I am using the Mikado servo horns and the geometry is perfect! They are the most durable horn you can find nest to metal. The are 20mm spacing and perfect fopr FBL geometry and resolution.

255HV's and the Mikado horns, the optional spacer is NOT needed.

I would assume like Robert said, test fit for all servos just in case.

I liked the video Chris (I always want to say Chad..Chad Sexton is a drummer)

I don't do Nitro yet, but I would guess you need that rudder servo up front to make way for the fuel tank and for CG??? I was just looking at the Synergy N5C and noticed it was the same. (Might do it as a first nitro)

Can you post a link for servo horns? I was told you wanted 17.5 to 18mm from servo screw to ball

Here are the arms for Futaba.

http://www.readyheli.com/MIK4021-Car...a_p_35281.html

I have flown 18 and 20mm on my Whiplash. 18mm won't let you get to 13 degrees of pitch and not go over the 100 point slider on the vbar. I have found the vbar geometry works good on other FBL systems too.

I use MA 8mm ball on all 7 swash locations and 20mm horns. With 13 degrees of pitch I am at 98 on the slider for pitch in the vbar which is spot on where you need to be.

Here is the ball for all swash locations: Part number MA 0109

hope everything is alright chris. if it makes you feel any better, you will without a doubt finish before me. school and hitec's repair department will make me wait forever (ok maybe not forever, but it feels like it with an unfinished heli sitting on my bench)

Third video is up. Just got the basic servo stuff done. Got started too late to get the soldering done so I can't finish tonight.

4th and final video in setup and final thoughts coming tonight/tomorrow.
