Default Stock CX2 Tx slider switches...

So I have had my CX2 for a little over a year now and the other day I just noticed a bunch of little slider switches under the little access door by the indicator LED. I never really knew why that door was there but also never looked under it (at this point in the hobby you think I would have by now...)

What do these controls do and what kind of changes should I expect by messing with them?

Those are DIP switches. Changing their position will reverse your controls.
If you use your tx for another Blade heli such as an MCX2, you may have to change them.
For the CX2, switches 1, 6 and 7 are in the up position. When I used my tx for another heli I had to change them.
Now that I have a DX6i tx I don't have to do that anymore.

Ah ok cool thanks, I'm really considering a DX6i and yesterday found a RTF Blade 450 3D that comes with one.... might do that because for $469 it seems to be the better buy since it comes with a RTF (we all know though how "Ready To Fly" they really are - so basically just assembled) heli, DX6i, lipo and charger (obviously nothing special but still included...)
Any thoughts on the Blade 450 3D? I've heard mixed reviews but with my experience with Blade products I wouldn't doubt it's quality for a second.

The DX6i is a great tx. There's so much you can do with it.
You'll love it! Just takes getting familiar with it and knowing how to use it to your best advantage. Read that manual!!

The only thing better is the DX7 or 8!

As for the Blade 450....have you flown a cp heli before?
I compare it to standing on a beach ball...always making corrections and it takes a lot of practice to be proficient.
I went from a CX2 to a HoneyBee fixed pitch to a Trex 500. It's a huge change and not just in the size of the heli.
They have to be set up perfectly to get them to fly correctly and plenty of practice on a sim is vital. I've put my 500 aside for awhile to fly planes. Got discouraged and have so little time for hobbies.

I think you'll love the 450, even if you haven't flown a cp heli before. Just prepare yourself with lots of set up info and sim practice if you haven't flown a cp heli before.

You pay more for Horizon's products, but you get customer support second to none in my opinion.
Have fun with your 450 and Dx6i!!!

I fly CP on the sim at the LHS just about everytime I go in, but that's about it. In addition to my CX2 I have a mSR X and have heard from several guys that its a great transition from FP to CP with a smaller learning curve because it's such an agile little bird. Whenever I do go for CP I will definitely start with training gear until I get a good steady hover right above the ground. I've found some great resources that walk through the set up process with swash leveling and pre flight checks that have a ton of info and the reviews swear that he breaks it down a lot easier for a perfect set up everytime. I've learned so much from his website already - http://www.rchelicopterfun.com - but his ebooks are what help with set up and pre flight checks and things.

I'd say you were on the right track.

Happy flying!!

Awesome I appreciate all your help! I've got another very recent concern (as in yesterday) that maybe you can help me out with, it seems like you know the CX2 very well....
So about 2 months ago I went in and completely rebuilt the whole bird - new motors, new inner/outer shaft, new battery tray, the list goes on blah blah blah blah blah... But anyway as of yesterday I noticed that the inner shaft felt loose so I put my finger under the shaft collar below the gears and pushed it back together. It feels like I could almost pull the inner shaft out with my hands (and a little force) while everything is intact, what could be my issue here? I've never had this happen before so I don't really know where to start looking...

The inner shaft gear (lowest one) has the collar like you say that goes over the raised neck (for lack of better desciption) and the set screw has to be tightened enough to through this little neck and into the flat spot on the inner shaft. I alway tighten this screw first and make sure its the tightest of the two. Don't go all wild tightening it but don't be afraid to torque it down a bit. Then I sort of just snug the other screw as a back-up. This way you make sure the first screw is on the flat spot really good and not making the gear off center. Hope this helps.

Awesome that makes perfect sense, I will check this out when I get off work today and see if I can't assess the situation, thanks!
