B450 ESC no BEC?
I need to replace the esc on my B400.
I am looking at using the esc from the B450 which is rated at 35A. That's 10A more than stock B400. Should I still use an external BEC? |

You are confusing two outputs. The ESC 25 amps vs. ESC 35 amps relates to amps available for the motor.
BEC output (whether internal to your ESC or a separate unit) is what goes to your servos/receiver. An ESC with BEC is two devices in one. That said, I have not recently researched the output of the various internal BEC's of the stock 400/450 Blade helicopters. I have flown stock setup 400/4503d/450X with no issues with the internal BEC. If I were flying other than stock servos, then it is time to do research. |

I ran a separate BEC (Sport Bec) with the stock 25A esc. Just wondered if the heavier 35A esc would be OK without a separate bec. |

If you have a stock B400 meaning receiver and servos or even the 450/450X servos or 450X V2 servos I believe you are fine without an external BEC. I fly my 4503d, 450X, and 300X with the stock setup meaning DS76 and DS76T servos with no problem. I assume you are fine with spectrum 3050/3060 servos as well as they are stock in the now discontinued V2 450X. If you have aftermarket servos, especially those with a reputation for being power hungry perhaps an external BEC is the way to go. Best to search for a thread with your specific setup if other than stock to see the experience of others. |
