Very nice. Those light poles were making me nervous with those huge hurricanes lol. What motor are you running? Looks like no lack of power.

Never mind. Looked at your sig. I've been wanting that motor really bad but the price is crazy for a 600 motor.

Lol. Thanks, They aren't as close as they look.
Yeah I'm running the Scorpion HKII 4225-550LE, and love it. I think I'm only running 12.5 on pitch, and it has plenty of pop.

The 6HV-U was the machine to have at IRCHA 2014! I captured some really good videos of the Compass pilots rocking it at IRCHA.

I'm new to the 6hvu and man in less than a month I am really falling in love with this machine and the class. It just wants to go. So smooth and quiet yet with a bark. At 8lb 1oz all up and compass blades and motor (505kv) it gets a lot done with 2050 rpm and is also great for lower and higher without any changes. 1800 and 2180 are the others i'm currently working with.

Great flight times and very efficient power system. my CC edge 80 has life good, the avg amp draw is 35 amps or so and the peaks just touch 85 or so on a good pull. Temp stays right at 110 f for most of the flight, maybe 120 at the end on a warmer day. What a great machine! Thanks to airpup86c for grabbing this vid.

Here's the 1800rpm gov'd flight as well. I enjoy how linear and snappy it still is slowed down a little. Gov needs a little tuning if I keep at this. Does better with the higher HS at the same setting. What's great is again the effeciency, 11t pinion 3300mah packs, 5:30 flight and about 46% taken out of the packs.

Looks good Scott.
I've been doing lot's of low HS flying with my 7Hv (1400 on 7S) and am going to have another go on the 6U the same.

With stock motor,12 tooth, 100% and 7S I should be down around 15-1600 and about 1/2 pound lighter with 7S 4400.
Probably won't be till the weekend but I'll report back and maybe even try to get vid.

@ airbasher:

OT, I know, but I never considered before that Douglas Adams must have had 3D helicopter pilots in mind when he wrote that sentence.

I think I might be able to get 1600 on the Castle with the 11t, but might not like it much without active freewheel etc, but yeah I think the point here is the 1/2 lb or more you can save in the weight like you mention. Been playing around in my mind of other odd pack sizes to consider, a 7s 4400 sounds about perfect and of course then have 2 for some real fun on the 7hv! Something fun to play with for sure

Def post up a vid with your results if you can, would love to hear how it goes.

Met a talented young pilot at a fun fly this weekend. Only 13 years old, been flying for about 7 months. I let him rock out on the 6HV-U and he was lovin it.
