That's correct. The Align one should be a little cheaper than the Staysee. The Staysee is very nice and well made but is a bit expensive. An alterative is the Zero canopy.

Made in the USA and half the price of a Staysee.

Wow. I used to think they were cool. Holy cow I could convert to gasoline for that kind of money.
I'm sure competitors don't mind paying the price of another heli for the canopy, but I could never bring myself to do it. I didn't pay much more than that for my whole kit.

Wow those are cool. I guess I didn't realize all the hardware needed to make it work. I could actually seeing myself saving for one of those. Very nice. Thanks for the heads up.

Watdazit
I had another read through your f3c setup thread tonight. How is your head set up? Delta? Flybar effectiveness? Your post is one of the reasons I settled on the f3c version (well price was super right too)
Please share your setup and what you've learned by playing with it.

The head setup is bog standard as recommended by Align. I am not far enough into it yet to change Delta and Flybar settings. Another experienced F3C flier has suggested I move the Delta out to stiffen the head up but I am not convinced about that. I would have thought for "dumbing" the head down moving inwards would be better. I will try it though.

My present aim is to practice to get my hovering steady and my sideways movements level and on the line and vertical movements, vertical. I am lucky in that I live on acreage so I have set up an area for maneuvers. I am still not using Dual rate but have been gradually dialing in expo but I find when there is a breeze the stick movements are no fast enough with a lot of expo (+40%) to hold a steady hover. Perhaps this is something which one has to change to suit conditions.

I am finding at present my old Trex 600 ESP hovers better than the 700 so I am sure the 700 is not dialed in yet. Practice, fiddle, practice, fiddle, practice, fiddle and I am sure I will get better!!!! It is a matter of understanding what changes have what effect.

Do you not have the newer programmable head on yours? Im unsure what standard is, as mine had 2 sets of holes at every mixing point to tune the head for stability or quickness.

Mine is the latest head. The Delta adjustment has three holes. The Align recommendation is the centre hole. The outside hole is + and the inside hole is -. I am presently on the centre hole. I have not made any adjustment to this because it affects the response and not the hover tuning.

I have spent most of the morning adjusting the swash so the heli will hover hands free. Today is the first day I have had in a month when it is calm. This is really necessary to obtain the basic setup. I hover and adjust the trims until I can get a stable hover. I will do about eight hovers once the trims appear right to see if the trim adjustment is constant on all hovers. If it iswe are OK I will then adjust the links from the servos to the swash to mimic the trims. I will then remove the trims and test hover again and as long as the wind is calm I will keep doing this until I get a stable hover. At present I am nearly there. Once it is right the trims can be used to compensate for any wind variations on the day.

Are we having fun yet? Blood oath are!

Now to recharge all my batteries.

Anyone know if any of the major online dealers will offer the black shark fuselage?

A bit expensive but nice. It looks like the tail has to be extended to accomodate the fuselage. I would like to see how it fits and how the batteries are fitted.
