Default What tape do you use for V-Bar on the Mini?

I'm hunting down this strange wobble on inverted stops in rainbows and tic tocs. Tried pretty much everything in setup, so it's time to change the tape. What tape do you guys use?

I ordered 4011 from Amazon, there are literally zero shops in my country that carry it I will be trying the Pattex red heavy duty mounting tape in the meantime to see how it works. Vibe analysis on the bench looks promising. I'm getting pretty much same values as I had with original Mikado tape, which is interesing, considering this tape holds the v-bar like if it was epoxied to the boom block.

4011 is similar to that, its very rigid.
I am using a single layer of it on my vbar too

Where did you find it in Australia? My local jaycar doesn't stock that stuff. Bunnings? Cheers.

( Not that I'm in any danger of doing any upgrades at present, my hands still in a splint lol... )

I got some from masters and have seen it in bunnings.
The front of the packet has a house number on it that says 4096 or something, but on the back the model is 4011.

You can just go down to your local newsagent and get a roll of it.

I know its an old thread, But yeah bunnings have it, but its in the hooks and wall mounts section.

I tried running in on my warp, was great with the SK540, but i have swaped to a mini Vbar and it HATES it. what else do people run with mini Vbars? going to try either vbar tape or both the M3 grey and vbar together?

IT is not the tape the v-bar hates it is the vibes. If your v-bar is wigging out on the 3m tape then you have vibe issues that need to be resolved. What heli is this on? still the warp??

Yep its on the Warp. actually, I have had 2 flights on it with the mini V , day 1 flight 1 it was perfect, just needed to tune up the Vbar a little, Day 2 flight 2, it was pulling up and dolphining all over the place, totally horrible, I foolishly didnt glue the servo plugs in, lost the tail and crashed. but the log was showing high vibes.

I had the same issue on my 7HV the ful size Black vbar could not fly the heli! vibe analyzer was showing big sea grass, I changed the gear mesh a little and it made a big differences, I swapped on the Vbar tape and the sea grass was instantly totally gone and the heli flew great after that.

im going to run vibe analyzer on the warp today, see if i can track it down, just assumed it may be a tape issue since it was last time. (im newish to Vbar)

4011 tape worked best on my mini vbar's with mini protos.
To get a baseline number for your vibes, spool heli on bench with no blades at all.
Watch the vibes, you should have next to no vibes even with high HS, if you have too much vibes, there is somehting wrong with the heli, find it and fix the heli.
Next step, put on tail blades, spool up, watch vibes, if they increase a lot, dynamically balance tail blades by adding tape to one blade, then test again, keep doing this till the vibes come back close to your base line.
Once you have as low a vibe count as you can get, spool it and put your finger on the vbar, I found this halves the vibes again, so then I add a velcro strap over the vbar to simulate the finger and test again, at this point the vibes are very low.
Doing the same for mains is only possible if you have BT for the vbar and u get it in hover and have someone watch the vibes for you, I just always static balance mains and left it at that.

Finally if you cant get rid of the vibes and it still wigs out, get a brain!
It is hilarious how much the brain doesnt give a toss about vibes.
I had a minor crash on my mini p, everything seemed to be intact, I suspected a bent FS at least, possibly main shaft too, but thought I would see how it went.
I got it into a hover, the skids and tail fin were a massive blur, im talking over 10mm of blur!
But it has hovering on the spot no problems, I turned the HS up to 3500, still just sat there vibrating like crazy but not drifting anywhere or anything, so I continued to smack the hell out it for the rest of the packs I had, did not affect flying one bit!

<Insert Pic of Dino here>

2 layers of 4010. It's clear, It's here.

No vib issues I don;t think.

Same here 2 strips across the front and 2 across the back so 2 layers thick but not as big as the foot print of the unit.

Works well on P500 and fusion 50 too.

I think I am a 4011 convert. Single layer. V-bar doesn't mind it at all.

Default Grey

That is the grey stuff you get at Home depot right? I have a roll of that. It is a lot easier to work with than 4010 but there is something high tech feeling about 4010. I dunno. Both will probably work fine on the Mini.
