Default Anybody tried the ProgressRC soldering stand?

http://www.progressiverc.com/progres...ing-stand.html

This seems like a good idea to me. I've seen the ones made out of aluminum and thought it was a pretty stupid idea to use a heat conducting material. A block of wood would work to seat the bullet while soldering, but the arm this stand has on it would make cold solder joints highly unlikely because it would allow the wire to stay absolutely still while the solder solidifies.

Does anybody know the maximum diameter of bullet it will handle? Specifically, will it handle 6mm bullets?

I use one of these and it works great: http://www.helidirect.com/rc-logger-...nd-p-30238.hdx

Really nice having the lighted magnifier for working on certain things and small stuff...

Yes, I think it's great. Comes with a nice little storage bag, too.

I like mine too. It helps when soldering deans, EC5s, bullets, etc.

Edit: The biggest hole is 10mm. I just measured it. Third hole from the biggest is 6mm.

The big diameter black plastic nut (see photo in post #1) broke almost immediately. I replaced it with a wing nut and big OD washer. Not a big deal, I'd still recommend the device.

Thanks. It would be nice if that kind of information was on Progressive's site. The video they made helps some, but it's still lacking.

Did anybody plurge for the extra arm? I don't see where you'd really need it unless you were doing something other than soldering.

Did get the second hand. I like and it's easy to adjust with the rotating locking collar.
Nice jig and high quality.

I bought one. It's a luxury item (i.e., extravagance). It was great for some EC5s and deans.

I bought the extra arm, too. It's an extravagance purchase, so why not? IIRC I actually used it the one night I used the tool.

You can muddle through with cheaper solutions, for sure.

Very nice tool. I use mine virtually everytime I break out the soldering iron.

I've been using thejigsup soldering stand for my EC5's and deans. Works awesome, no issues.
