I think I might finally be content with this sucker.
I did a trade for the mini protos I had a warp 360 and I just did not have the money to buy high end servos it needed to survive in any slight crash. I had a tip over in grass and it destroyed one servo stripped another broke the servo mounting frame. onwof my most expensive mishaps I have had. Plus it just did not fit me not sure why but it just was not clocking.
I did a trade because I could not afford to buy all the parts I would need to complete a kit if I sold the warp. the trade was disappointing. I was told the heli had been flown and crashed a lot but I did not know it was worn out. motors at least the 3s one was just shot bad bearings and a max speed of 2200 rpms at 100% bearings were all worn frame was cracked (told me about that) bottom was cracked never told me about that. a few of the screw holes were stripped. he bought a new pinion as the one on it was worn and one other part. he forgot the servo balls and I found a workaround. the head was not setup right the follower arms were not level when the swash was at 0 I was ok with the motor but the pinions were a nightmare first new one would lock up on every flight. it worked till I and a light crash and it gave up the ghost. the second worked well till I put a motor in that reached 3000 rpms and it died seconds later same with the third. 4th locked up again but was flyable. I did use the wrong motor as I had a 2221-10 new in the box I could never sell and it was really too fast but worked somewhat ok. then I had the red wire come loose on the esc first time I did not know it caused the left roll of death. set of blades a few other parts I put the wire back in the plug but it happened again this time wire all the way out. I idd a bench test and found putting the red wire caused a left hand roll. I glued the wire in the plug and I got maybe 1/2 flight and again another crash. so I finally replaced the plug. so 6 crashes because of mechanical problems with maybe 22 flights. Not sure if it was the 360mm blades or the 3000rpms but I had some right drift I think due to vibes from the blades or tail I did find the new lynx tail hub caused a lot of vibes at 3000rpms. but I was flying and doing slow piros and some right tilt nose in and I dumb thumbed it with negative pitch (I seem to dumb thumb with nose it move sometimes) had some tail issues most likely due to that motor. a Generous fellow sent me a 3s motor and I bought some 325 blades since I broke the last set in the last crash. I had already replaced the pinion with a warp pinion and so I replaced the shaft on the motor I replaced the broken frame side put a new belt on the heli. I did a test flight this morning at about 2500 rpms and the vibes were not an issue the tail was a bit sloppy but with some flights and beastx adjustment I got it decent. So I like it flying a lower head speed with 325’s. I may try it with 360s but not sure if I will bother. I have mixed feelings about this heli. the bad parts like pinions and thrust washers not fitting on the spindle shafts and the thin frame sides and weak bottom and the high price of the parts Makes me really reluctant to recommend it to anyone. When I found out the dealers could not even get reruns on bad in the bag pinions I lost some respect for the company that they have not fixed the pinion issue yet is another strike against them. I have had a blade nano, mcps mcpxbl several 130x’s align 250 dfc 300x 450x warp 360 x3 and now the mini. Not sure if the parts quality of the mini are any better then the 300x or 450x. the mini cost more then a x3 and it does not come close to the quality of the parts the durability the flight quality or support. so myself I will recommend the x3 over the mini. I will still fly it and see how it does but I really hope the parts quality goes up. |

nice report Foofer - your opinions are always good. Sounds like you've had a rough time but have made lemonade from the lemon

Glad you got it working!
Just one observation: The follower arms are not level on the Mini at zero pitch, and that's normal for this bird. If you have adjusted things so they ARE level, you probably don't have equal travel available for positive and negative pitch. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=584084

Yeah the follower arms don't need to be level with 0 pitch, they are simply there to make sure the head links stay in phase with the main grips. As long as they don't bind at any point in the swash movement they are fine.

Ok on the arms I seem to have equal through after I used the center line over the top of the arm. the frame may have had other cracks causing vibe issues it broke taking it off but it was also glue to the bottom plate so hard to tell.

did two flights this morning and I really like the low speed. my reflexes keep up better and my flying is smoother. have a tiny bit of porpoising I need to lookup on how to fix that in the beastx.
With the 325 blades and solid pinion and slow head speed I am lucky to get 2 feet on a mini auto. |

That's about what I used to get on 325s WITH a one-way bearing. The solid pinion isn't going to be much of a penalty on the Mini.

10 flights or so and no problems flies fine at a lower head speed tail is good it's quiet and relaxing too. need a smaller pinion so hoping lynx comes through. started hearing a chirping sound that had to be belt related. oiled the back pulleys problem gone. I bet I did not even have 10 flights on those new suckers.
