Congrats!!! This is the single cheapest mod you will do that produces this kind of power.

Had to go back to stock, wore out both armatures. Ordered the Pro 180 motors, see how they work.

Like I said before, time for you to go brushless!

Yeah maybe, I don't know if I want to get that complicated. Then I would have to go brushless in the mCP X as well. See what happens this winter if I get ambitious.

With all that nasty snow and cold on the way? My guess is you are going to go stir crazy. You can only visit so many hotsprings to thaw out in, and Ainsworth is a long, long drive.

I'd be interested in making this mod too. < snip long boring story >

Where's a good source? (I realize they're not hard to find...but I'm looking for a bargain)

And would someone please clarify; aside from OE, is there just one choice for replacement motors? These would be the ones with the fancy paint job on the casing? I ask because the posts in this thread seem to be suggesting there are two optional motors avail for the CX2.

Thanks!

The Extreme pro 180 motors are the best. You can get a pair from http://www.boomtownhobbies.com/ for $25 plus shipping. They work best if broken in first. You can find advice on how to do this in this forum.

Your other option is to go brush less, which I know very little about.

You don't need an ESC. they're not brushless, just a much better quality ball bearing motor with replaceable brushes.

I don't believe they get any hotter then stock motors but heat sinks are a good idea anyway.
I also took my 4 in 1 apart and drilled some small holes in the case to help with cooling.

Add the Tenergy 900 mAh 25C batteries and you've got a super CX2!
