Default 700mx

I was looking up the spec difference between a 510kv 700mx and a hkIII 4035 500kv

I notice the align claims more power but the mainshaft out of the motor is 1.8mm shorter than the scorpion

My question is can I use the 700mx without any modification and would it perform as well as the scorpion motor and would it hold up to sport/and beginning 3d.

The 700mx is a good motor.

It is definitely not more powerful and probably is a bet less powerful than the HKIII equivalent.

Neither motor's stock shaft will reach the pinion support in the X7 due to the mod 1.2 gear height. If you want to change shafts you will need to buy another shaft. A member here used a KDE 700XF shaft on his 700mx and now has pinion support. There has been one member who broke a motor shaft on the 700mx's stock shaft. This is probably due to poor shaft material and the fact that the shaft takes all the axial load because the gears are so beefY!

Thank you for the info.

I was just on kde's websight, so the KDE 700XF has the right length shaft. And if it does would a 120 amp esc be enough for that motor

The 700mx has very little copper on the stator. If you are not going to rewind it you are better off with a 4035.
The 4035 shafts will also fit the 700mx, an example can be found here:

For the X7 you should try to get hold of the 110mm version.

im the member with the kde shaft and he broken shaft. mine is a 530kv tho. if you go with the scorpion your brobably ok without upgrading the shaft to the longer one but the mx motor shaft is weak sauce for sure. im pretty hard on my helis but these other guys are abit more advanced and therfor harder on thier equipment. id run what they're suggesting.

Sure, if you keep your pitch under control. That motor will EASILY pull 200A continuous if you let it. Best be safe with a 160A controller. If I try hard, I can overload my 120A YGE with my HK3-560. HAHA!
