From what I have seen, in 3d competitions most people are using 700 size electrics.

Other than XFC and "The One" at IRCHA, what 3D competitions are there in the US? I see lots of "fly in's", but no competitions. Are there varying levels of 3D competition?

Whatever the pilot is most comfortable flying, within the rules of the competition. The rules of the competition can include things such as the flight must be 4 minutes (i.e. XFC) which would dictate your setup to some degree.
