Tail Blowout?
I have an t-rex 450 plus DFC (2013) all stock with the exception of replacing the main blade grips/connecting arms with the aluminum upgrade ones.
long story short, started trying to fly last weekend. Crashed. replaced the broken link arm, blades and the main gear that had a been stripped. I got it all back together and took it to the LHS to have them check it over as I was not sure about the blade pitch and swash plate being correct. they said it all looked good. try to fly and now it wants to spin the tail once I get it off the ground. I checked over the servo and reset the arm. still doing the same thing. After it finishes spooling down, the tail servo arm is not at the 90* postion, most of the time it is close to 90 to the end (pointing towards the tail) or in-between. the servo also seems to be slow the revert back to the 90* to the side. I am at a loss for what is going on. Thanks Andy |

Does the servo and tails move with your inputs? Check your correction directions, meaning pivot the heli to the left and leading edge of tail blades should go to the right and if you pivot thw tail to the right, the leading edge of the tail blades should point towards the left. Make sure theres not binding in the tail by disconnecting the pushrod and changing the pitch by hand. Then check to make sure the push rod for the tail runs smooth through the guides. If you are in heading hold mode your tail slider will not recenter itself after a input. So once you initalize the gyro the tail will go to its set postion that it was programed to when it was set up. It will only return to its center position while you are in rate mode. Do you know if your in rate or heading hold mode?

If you are in HH mode, your servo will not return to center. It holds the current position.

Is it a torque tube or belt tail? If belt, you most likely rotated it the wrong way, did you replace the tail blades too? Could they be on the wrong way?

It is in hh mode, I ran through all the setup again last night on the 3gx mr. I'll check the tail rotation for the belt, i did have to remove my tail rotor and may have not got it back in the correct way. If the weather holds out I'll check t tonight. Thanks for the suggestions.
