Default Black Main gear fit problems?

In converting to 12S setup, I installed the SKU: 208900 Black main gears.
First flight as a 12S the main starts to chatter, so we land.
Upon inspection at home, the main gear is molded +.005" to +.020 all over compared to the red....which looks to be the same mold.
This makes the center thru hole that centers it on the hub about .020" of play.
Measured the red, black and white delrin slant .....the red and white are within .001" of the hub and each other ....with the black +.020" bigger.
Is this old news or has anyone seen it?

Just not sure wether to just buy another set and hope for a better fit, or JB Weld and machine to fit , or just use the red.

I just finished replacing the red main gear with the black and found the same problem. The fit of the black gear on the one way bearing was sloppy unlike the original red gear which was a perfect fit. Spinning the black gear, it's apparent it's not centered on the main shaft. Like you, I'm not sure how to resolve this. Both black gears in the pack are the same. I might just go back to the red main gear.

Mine does the same. Flies fine imo. Doesn't bother me much.

I decided to press forward with the black main gear. I made the assumption that the hole in the center of the main gear is centered and lined the hole with a strip of .016 brass shim stock. With the shim installed, the gear was basically centered on the one way bearing. However, I then found that the four screw holes in the gear were not lined up with the threaded holes in the one way bearing flange. I carefully opened up two of the four holes with a file and was then able to get all four screws through the gear and into the flange. The gear now appears to be just about centered on the main shaft. It's very close and should be OK. I googled this issue and found that folks identified this problem with the black gear several years ago. I guess Gaui decided it wasn't significant enough to warrant a modification to fix the problem.

The first time I used the black gear is was noisy but after a flight it's fine.

Make sure you redo your pinion mesh as it's slightly wider.

I would never consider using the red gear now. I have zero issues with the black gears.

I was gonna swap to the black man gear had it all in and ready to go till I saw the pinion mesh issue. Wasn't worth having to readjust the pinion to try it. It's kinda a pita to adjust the pinion on the x5 or is it just me?

It isn't the best design, but I can still mesh it in only a few minutes... I think the X3 is one of the easier with a clear shot of the screws while it is mounted on the heli.

Haven't got my x5 yet but you guys should try the pinion gear mesh on a x7. A real PITA!

Hi guys,

Seems the black gears had a bad production run or something.

Mine had the exact same problem, a few months back.
Hobbymaniac was kind enough to send me red ones when i reported the issue. Did not even have to send the black ones.

Cheers
