Post Blade 450 Vibration Problems

Hi Guys.

Wondering if anyone has had this problem.

I have a blade 450 that i have flown for a while now and i truly enjoy this heli. I encountered a problem a while back when i crashed it and had some minor repairs to do. When i had done all the repairs to get it up and running i decided to upgrade my blades to carbon fibre.

When i flew the heli, i saw that the heli had a terrible vibration especially when putting it in flight mode, so it seemed speed related. After many suggestions by friends, the main shaft, main shaft bearings, feathering shaft, tail rotor casing, bearings and shaft was changed and all to no avail. After a long time and lots of frustration, i put on the standard wooden blades, and the vibration was GONE! I thought this to be a coincidence and put the Carbon fibre blades and the vibration was back! I checked the tracking of the blades and they were perfect, i then bought a blade balancer, ( not that i thought it to be necesarry as they were Maverick blades so didnt expect them to be out) and as expected the balancing was 100%. I then bought CGT carbon fibre blades wich did the same and then i also tried the new 450X blades wich are exactly the same lenght as all the blades, 325mm, but the chord was a bit shorter than the Mavericks and CGT's and it still did the same.

Any explanation or someone that had the same problems?

PS: I have two blade 450's and i tried this with both heli's and they are both doing the exact same thing when i put on the carbon fibre blade's so its also not the heli.

I don't want to sound critical, but are you sure you are using the balancer correctly? I'm sure carbon blades have their lemon batches, but if is happening repeatedly on multiple helis, when it isn't with the woodies?

Again, I don't mean to sound like I'm blaming you, I'm certainly no stranger to "user error" problems.

stock woodies are made for the grips about 6.5mm thick, the others should be between 4.5mm-5mm root depending on brand and will need shims.

Did you shim them?

You can buy shim washers, or a lot of people use old credit cards (about .75mm thick) to make washers 1 on top and 1 on bottom on both blades.

Default 450 Vibration Problems

Hi Guys, thanks for the feedback. I hope and believe that i have been using the balancer correctly as i also called on a friend that has been in the hobby for quite some time and he also checked the balancing saying that it is perfect. I cant see the blades being out of balance , as you rightly said, you do get lemons, but three sets of blades from three different makes? Cant see all of them being lemons?

What do you throttle curves look like in each flight mode?

You said you have the same problem on two different B450s are you using the same model in your radio to fly both and you rebind every time or do you have two different models setup?

Also, how tight are your blades? If you turn the heli on its side do they stay out straight or fall? They should fall a little with the heli on its side and a you give it a little shake.

It's super weird that you are having the same issue on two helis.
