What blades would you reccomend?
I've got a plastic framed Hurricane with a Scorpion 3026-1210kv motor and 6S 2650mah packs. I've also got all three boom/belt combos available.
I'm looking for sport flying, learning inverted (nice a stable) and learning auto-rotations. What blade length would work well for this power system? What headspeed for this flying style? Thanks, Tim |

Hi there.
I use 550 mm SAB blades. They are made of fiberglass and work just fine and dont cost alot and perfect for sport flying and autos. regards

What headspeed do you run? Does the Z20 come down warm or hot?

I would run 520's to take the edge off the ampdraw on the power system.

I'm running the same power system as you, same motor and batteries. I use 550 z-weaves....the difference between the 500s and 550s is really noticeable, much more float on the bigger ones. My headspeed is 2050rpm.....just experiment, you'll find what's right for you. Nick Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk |

Initially I was thinking 470mm or 500mm with the motor and batteries I have but it sounds like there is enough power there to go with at least the 520mm blades. If I do try the 550s, I'll get an EagleTree in there and make sure I'm not cooking things too much! I am setting it up flybarless, so there is a bit more efficiency to be had there also.
Thanks everyone. |

Use the big pretty long ones. The ones that make really nice swoosh-swoosh, and bbbbrrrfffft sounds when you make turns.
Couldn't help it. |

To the OP. I have a short boomed Hurri running 430mm blades and 2900 to 3000 head speed, a mid boomed HeadHunter framed Hurri running 500mm blades and 2300 to 2400 head speed, and a long boomed Hurri running 550mm blades and 1900 to 2000 head speed.
They all fly very different from each other. The 425 is very quick and agile, while the 550 is kinda 'floaty' like driving a school bus. Personally, the mid-boomed HH framed one with 500mm blades seems to be the best for all around flying. Quick enough for hard sport flying, but stable enough to learn new things and recover from a dumb thumb in time. Just my opinion.

Jerry and Mike,
Which 500mm blades do you use? What size battery are you using? |

I am using 6s 2650mah batteries on my HeadHunter framed Hurri, and Torsion 500mm blades with the medium length boom and 522 belt. Not sure if the 6s batteries will fit on the plastic frame as I am using the HH frame. I am using a Z30-1100kv motor and set my timer at 5:00, and only put back 1500mah in the battery so it is pretty efficient too.
The medium boom and 500mm blades seem to be a very nice combination.

I've read that you can run 520mm blades with the mid boom. Can anyone confirm this?

Probably. As it happens I just (literally 2 days ago) got around to rebuilding my 550 which has been on my bench for 3 months since a mid air gear strip... Had my 425 FBL and Outrage G5 FBL to play with and I've just been too busy.
Anyway.. rebuilt (shafts).. replaced side frame, fitted Trex 600 sport LG etc and then looked for blades. I have always run RCP 500s on this heli ('standard' mid sized boom) but I have a set of Go Quick 515s that have sat here for AGES (3 years?) and decided I wanted to try them. They are longer and have a bigger chord (front to back of blade) than the RCPs so I dropped a tooth on the motor. Have done a couple of test flights and they are lovely .. I've only done sport flying - some loops and rolls and FFF but they sound great and the heli is flying really nicely, it is definitely responsive enough for sport flying (I suspect 3D would be an issue) and climb out seems undramatic but is very rapid... big grin factor. The blades also make some great sounds.... I am also optimistic about power consumption... seems very good. Will report back later. I have to own up and state that this is a 10S config.. z30 800KV / Kontronic ESC on governor) but I am not running it balls out and I was using old (old!) batteries. Worth a try if you can find them |

My Z20 is only a little warm. The stock motor melted the plastic canopy. Headspeed around 2000'ish (cant remember really) and its the stock long boom, plastic frame Hurricane, well i upgraded to CNC head and 600 skids, but stock gears. regards

I've had a set of these on mine for a while (Z-20 980), they fly beautifully. As for being blems, I still can't tell what they considered a blemish, I can't find one.
