Default stupid question about pinion size

Currently running 15t pinion with 1800kv motor and 40amp esc, battery is 5s 18v 2800 mah lipo.

Will changeing my pinion gear to a 13t increase run time or shorten it, im mainly hovering about forward flight etch no 3d yet.

sorry for silly question

40amp ESC is a bit underrated, remember on 5S you will draw more current than on 6S and the standard ESC on a 500 is in the 60-70A range

ok just span heli up, are my ears hearing right or is this this 100 times faster, sounds more brutal with the 13t on, and ive only got n-th set a 0=55=70=80=80

firstly make the 70 another 80, it will hover better

you can't trust your ears, i run the 13T on a 1600Kv motor (6S) and my normal throttle is flat at 80, thats the right head speed to get good tail authority and a very stable heli.

at 5S and 1800Kv you should be close to the same head speed. It will def be lower than the 15T you used to run

I run 5S with a 12T pinion, with a 30C 3000 mAh batt..and a 1800kv motor. I'm hovering at just about 2350 RPMs. When I tried a 13T on the same set up, I was hovering around 2550. 2550 can sound scarey, but its a good headspeed for FF and hovering. I keep mine on a 12T pinion, only because I have it set up super smooth hovering and nice calm FF, with 7 minute flights, putting back 78% into the batts. Just for reference, I do run a bigger ESC. ( 100A )

Oh, and Deet is right on about the TC...I used to use a normal curve of 0,80,80,80,80...The constant head speed makes hovering and overall control really much better. I now run only idle up with a flat 90%. Normal is just for binding and for testing after maintanance.
