Default hk450 weirdness

hello all
i had yet another oddity last night with my hk450 i was hovering 4ft up and i heard a pop sound followed by loss of tail control. i poped her down nice and soft and noticed i had lost a tail blade. the blade ripped clear out of the plastic grip funnier still were i landed i saw something black sticking out of the ground..it was my cf tail blade burried up to the screw further looking showed the flybar had buckled backwards away from the direction of travle and the paddles had twisted upwards

seems to me like some odd damage.my 2nd set of tail blade have left my heli and a fly bar bent backwards without a crash

anyone ever come accross this before

Not had a problem as you described, but had something similar when I hadn't CA'd the paddles to the flybar.

Maybe something else is causing some vibes, and in turn, it has caused the paddle to flip up, and in doing so, the extra drag caused the flybar to bend.

It's a bit random, so I think you need to check over the head for vibe issue's that may have caused the problem. Hope that helps, if a little sketchy

Tail blade came out...flew diagonally upwards and hit the flybar paddle, which bent the flybar and whacked the tail blade back into the ground....?

nice one luke ,there is a small nick in trhe back of one of the paddles and guess what i just tryed the recovered tail blade and its leading edge fit the spot nice and snug

you should work for air crash investigations luke, let me take a pic you will like it.

hay copterboy you got me thinking now did i or didnt i ca them paddles one turning up would explain the bend..hay when i start repairs in going to buy metal tail blade holders not the stock plastic ones and go a bit heavy on the ca just incase one was to work lose in the future, well im glad it was only 4ft up and came down softly. but major kudos to luke its been bugging me about the bent flybar

cheers
antony

Hehe....maybe I've just "seen" tooooo many crashes....lol.

It didn't help with my m8s plane last night. he got it into a spin from about 100ft up. When he realised he couldn't do anything with it, he gave the Tx to me!! I couldn't do anything either and it went in nose first about 3 fields away, the other side of a river and behind 2 tree lines!!

We did get it back and the rudder was jammed hard over, which explains the unrecoverable spin. The good news is, it was just 3 clean breaks in foam, so the repairs shouldn't take any longer than the 5 minute epoxy takes to dry.

...still gotta find out why the rudder jammed though....

Looks great Antony. Very tempted myself. What sort of a Mrs is that, that buys RC related pressies. Must be a keeper.

Happy birthday for next week. Just a wee whipper snapper still really aren't you.

Cheers

Sutty
