If you look just past the guys elbow it seems like there's damage there as well. It seems like a pretty large area to be damaged from a drone strike

Ultimately which is more likely, a drone somehow made it past a wing, a spinning prop, was descending or ascending at a high rate and intersected with the tail or some knot head banged something into it and the preflight was slack and didn't catch it on walkaround. Or its just pictures of a damaged plane being used to further drone hysteria. We don't know. I'm just learning to not trust any of the drone claims because they tend to be fantastical and defy reason.
You are absolutely right, we don't know for sure. But from my point of view the claim that this was an in flight impact is completely plausible, and the story seems to fit with the pictured damage.

Could it be that some guy has it out for drone users, so he fabricates a story about hitting one in midair just to cover up the fact that he really just smacked it with a tug, thereby continuing his devious plan for a drone free world? Sure. That's possible too.

We'll in all likelihood NEVER know, unless 1) the drone pilot comes forward and says "yeah, that was me" or 2) A hanger employee comes forward and says "I saw that guy totally tag the tail with a ladder".

But given that there have been some 700 "drone" sightings/close calls this year alone (according to an FAA report), I don't think it's impossible for one of them to finally make contact.

I agree, there is a chance it happened. Whatever happened happened with enough force to cut the deicing boot but there wasn't that much real intrusion into the structure of the leading edge. That is one of the many reasons why I an skeptical.

That is well known old CGI hoax vid that isn't new at all. The creator himself describes how he made the fake video in the comments section on You Tube and on many of the other links associated with it if anyone would bother to read before spreading it around as real. It's not even a really good fake either.

Just stop and think about if for a minute.....you would be hearing about something like that as a top story on every national news channel if really happened, not on FB

From that article....

Quote:
Although the FAA and news media continue to report a profusion of drone sightings, there are no confirmed reports of collisions between drones and manned aircraft, other than one military incident in Afghanistan.
