I can't wait for the first idiot to be made an example of so others might (and hopefully) stop doing this stupid crap.

Future opens will probably have the caddies carrying 12 gauges in the bags.

Tennis + Caddies = ???

EMP weapons will be next. They'll start shooting them out of the sky electronically.

I can just feel the multirotor guys ramping up to call me elitist again, but I still have yet to hear of a 3D heli or any single rotor heli for that matter doing anything remotely like this.

I wonder how much worse this is going to get before it gets bettter?

3DR Solo by the looks of it...the firmware is a bit iffy from all accounts...GPS error maybe and the flyer can't well...actually fly...

So...another drone crash...

I honestly can't see anything in the dronosphere causing issues for heli flyers than fly responsibly at clubs.

Only crazy people fly big 3D helis in public areas so I honestly can't see how it'll affect me at my club.

Licensing and policing of drone ops is a great thing IMHO. It keeps out the morons and allows reputable individuals that have licenses to get paid for flying.

People have been killed by 3D helis over the past several years. I've yet to hear anyone being killed by a multirotor.

Apples to oranges. Those people weren't killed because some dipstick went out and bought a 700 and tried to fly it into a tennis stadium with a camera on it.

Not that it matters, but I'd like to know what the guy was actually trying to do.

Did he A: go fly at the marina, loose control, and the drone took off,, potentially back to his home where the last home location was stored? Then go into LVC over the stadium?

Or B: try to sneak the drone over the us open.

Once again, this is the sort of crap that is going to cause problems for ALL of us, multis and single rotors alike.

One bit that really stood out to me in the article was this:

"was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless operation of a drone and operating a drone outside the prescribed area for doing so"

So, are "reckless operation of a drone" and "operating a drone outside the prescribed area for doing so" actually laws that are on the books that one can be formally charged with?

I have never heard that before and have a hard time believing that.

I just saw on Fox News while I was in our break room getting my morning snack "teacher arrested after drone crashes into seats at US Open"

P.s. I really wish all the drone incident threads were posted in the multi rotor section of the forum if you really want to bring attention to it the right crowd.

Edit: not trying to cast the guys in our multi forums as these on the news. I'm sure most here are responsible. But seems like these threads would be more appropriate there. All we do is bitch about them. maybe the multi guys would see this and start to have their own concerns.

Just to make you guys aware -

Quote:
In 2015, 45 states have considered 156 bills related to drones.

Nineteen states–Arkansas, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia–have passed legislation.

Four other states–Alaska, Georgia, New Mexico and Rhode Island–adopted resolutions related to drones.
Source with summary of each state's laws: http://www.ncsl.org/research/transpo...landscape.aspx

This does not include County or City ordinance.
