Default New to Planes. looking for info on scale stuff.

I am looking to MAYBE get into planes. I would like to mostly fly scale stuff.
I know there are different levels of planes and quality. EDF foam planes, moving on up to fiberglass fuselage ones.

I am looking for a step up above the EDP foam stuff. but i don't want to get really expensive $1000's with Exact replica retracts and detailed cockpits..
kind of something in the middle..

anyone got any good links i could check out?

you seem to have skipped over Balsa, the most popular material for mid-priced scale planks. Depends what you want, you can get a Piper Cub J3 from hobbyking with loads of detials for under $100 as a strating point. you need to have a think about e-power, glow or gas, and the approx wing span you're interested in.

if you have never flown a plane, you also don't need to start with "scale". you ought to get something that is going to be a bit more forgiving to fly, and then as you get some experience upgrade to those scale planes. Even some of the foamie scale warbirds and jets are a handful to fly compared to a slightly larger balsa model.

Well I plan to stick with electric. And i usually just jump right in to things big time.
I learn to fly helis on a 450, no training gear, no simulators. and have only crashed 4 times so far..
so basically looking for something a step up from foamies.

Cub is a good scale trainer and E-flite has a T-34 PTS set up just sell the DX6i that comes with it if you want
if you get the t-34 pick up an extra servo for the flaps for the start
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=EFL4800

it comes set up for new pilots as you get better you can raise the flaps then take off the droops and have nice looking sport scale T-34
its a great setup and the colors are easy to see
