Default 2012 Mid America Fun Fly June 1-3 Grosse Ile, MI

Hello Friends,

I am pleased to announce the 2012 Mid America R/C Heli Fun Fly scheduled for June 1st thru 3rd, 2012. This years' event will take place at Grosse Ile Airport on the island of Grosse Ile, Mi. after months of planning and negotiating we have permission to fly on one of the airports two runways. The runway is 8850 feet long offering us an incredible amount of space for our flight line. This year the event will be held in conjunction with the Grosse Ile Island Fest also occurring at the airport during the Fun Fly.

Moving the event to the airport offers several new amenities:

Night Flying
Camping
Motor Home Parking
Full Scale Helicopter Rides
Full Scale Plane Rides
Carnival Games and rides for the family.

Last year due to circumstances beyond my control the XFC was held the same weekend. But with a little effort and some luck the XFC will be two weeks later and I assure you there will not be a lack of talent at this event.

That's some big talent! It's worth it just to see these guys fly. Though geting on the flight line shouldn't be an issue, this venue is expansive.

Sign me up, coming Sat/Sun likely.

Those are hard hitters! I like it. As I said before, best venue to see pilots from all over the US.

I hope the turn out is worthy of the talent represented.

Default Me too Cullen!

I too hope we get a good turn out. It takes a lot of work to put together an event like this and to secure this type of facility. Hoping to get between 150 to 175 registered pilots with the all things considered (facility, pro pilots and great raffle prizes) attending this event is a MUST.

Take care,

Big D.

200 pilots pilots would be great!!!!! We certainly have the room for it (8) eight GIANT flight stations with (2) two hovering/testing stations at each end.

Probably can have more flight stations. Where we flew you could barely see where you were. Then I think joe mack flew a few flights on the other side of us and you could barely tell what kinda of car he drove down there.

the flightline is over twice the size of IRCHA, so we can accommodate a larger number than that, if necessary.

You're absolutely correct. I could easily add flight stations and I may if I have enough pilots for that. I do want everyone to feel somewhat connected,so I thought 8 very large stations would be okay but I certainly have the room to expand. Everything hinges on the turnout in both registered pilots and volunteers to help run the event.

However, it turns out the event should be AWESOME!!!!

This is just a few miles from my house. Is there a charge for spectators? I would love to check things out.

Thanks
