Default Pop goes the bearing.....

Has a bearing ever poped off from the bearing block (upper) on your heli.
Happened to me while landing yesterday, at 4 to 6 inches from the ground,
an arm from one of blade grips poped off too. The heli droped like a dead duck

Looks to me that the bearing block is upside down. It shouldn't do that if the block is positioned correctly. The collar should push the bearing into the block, not act to push it out.

That doesn't necessarily make it right. The thrust forces on the upper and lower bearing (from the collar and main gear hub, respectively) should always serve to force the bearing to stay in the block.

WOW - looks like you've been lucky for awhile. Someone installed it like other bearing blocks where the collar is on top. With our compass where the collar is under the bearing block, the open face should be pointed down (bottom bearing should be pointed up).

Go buy a lottery ticket because this could have come out at a much worse place - like 100' up.

That's how I think it was, the groove from the collar fits the contour of the bearing. That is not a part that I take out regularly, might have put it in backwards, not impossible but not likely, anyway. But now I put in a ceramic bearing and they're the same on way or another.

Hey Paul, how you doin'

You misunderstood. Paul was talking about other helis that have the collar on top of the top bearing block, i.e. between the block and the swash. The raised ring on the collar should always be up against the bearing.

Bum is right - that was what I was trying to say.

That is why that one should never trust semi assembled kits.
Its our responsibility to re check everything including nuts & bolts.
I always do this especially for rotor heads & tail assembly. Re locktite
all bolts

I don't know about your kit but the factory threadlock seems very strong on mine and the heads of the bolts are not quite hard enough to stand up to my ball head driver.

I need a hardened precision allen head driver if I'm ever going to get the threadlock to break free on my heli.

...anyway, sly left me with the impression that he had assembled it that way.

Yep the bearing block is upside down.
The lower bearing block should have the bearing fully exposed upwards and the upper bearing block should have the bearing fully exposed downwards.
Cheers
Phil
