i was thinking of getting the p-gasser but was told to wait from a friend of mine,AGRAV8, he said that their will be some mods in the next production that will be better than the last..

what is your take??

As with any new heli the public will find a way to break it. But that wouldn't stop me from getting one (although I have not yet)

Specifically the gear ratio options not yet available. Initial release kits were 5.8 gear ratio. Favorable results, but headspeeds higher than some are comfortable with. 6.28 up to 6.57 (from a 14 tooth pinion and gear changes of 88-93) are also VERY favorable.

The jury is deliberating the merits and shortcomings of the WA 677 carb that Zenoah has been producing recently.

These things might be addressed in the next batch.

the model is being shown in Toledo this weekend. It has a slightly different frame layout than the previous prototype. The upper frame mount in the front is now about 3 inches forward from where it was. This gets the front frame mount further away from the motor

the initial model will be configured with the Zenoah g231 and will be available with several gear ratios, so as with most xcell models, you can adapt to your whatever purpose you have.

At least initially, it will come with the stock can muffler. There are some things in the works, but they won't be around in time for release.

It will be available with either the tempest or extreme rotor heads. Some folks like the tight response of the extreme and some folks prefer the softer response from the tempest. You can have whatever you want.

The canopy is unchanged from the Tempest.

All testing has been done using the Stator Gator. It works perfectly!

I don't know which t/r gearbox it will come with, probably depends on when it actually gets kitted.

There is not yet an official name for the model, for now its known as the Fury gas, but it will not likely be sold with that name.

I think there will be a few more small changes before its kitted, but probably nothing major. It flies pretty well as is.

The engines are shipping with the Walbro WT-677 carburetor. I have not yet tested with one of these, but I will before its done.

Not sure when it will be available, engineering is still completing the documentation for the Ion-x and its getting ready for final kitting. After that the gas model will get some cycles.

Any particular reason for the aluminum tail boom? and what are these " stiffer boom supports" like?

The aluminum boom absorbs more of the engine vibration (its is after all a big single cylinder motor), and it helps keep the price down. A fair number of 3D pilots prefer the aluminum boom.

Actually I don't have any pictures, the only model is currently in Toledo.

Carey, I just have to ask-- how about the weight-- is this a fat girl or a lean flying machine. I think you have flown it but not sure. Can you describe the flight characteristics??

Ready to fly weight is less than 12 lbs. That is what Tim was telling me about the Gasser that is being shown at Toledo.

IN comparison:

The P-gasser I have tips the scales around 13 lbs. Several reasons why......my muffler is 11 ozs, the pull start assembly 4 oz, my sub c 3300 Mah NiHm pack is 11 oz.....I put in upgrades like thrust bearings, double mainshaft bearings. carbon fiber boom supports. It all adds up. Paytons' machine is almost 3/4 lb lighter than mine. I did weigh the complete metal frame set...494g for those comparing the difference in G-10, metal, and carbon frames. I could "Jenny Craig" it down to the 12 lb mark....but I don't feel the need. Heck, I could just take on 11 OZ of fuel and leave off 11 OZ....but that would cut down on flight times. Oh, I also added 3 oz of weight in the nose.....gee, forgot about that.
