As long as they have V1's in reasonable stock, I do not think they will be in such a hurry to run a production run of V2's.

I love the looks of that new tail setup. We should be able to dig trenches all day and not bend or strip the tail system.

That is good to know. That means one can get the V1 now, as it is available and enjoy gasser flying. Then when the V2 is released hey can just do a simple upgrade....ditto for us who already have a V1.

I would think that Century would make a simple upgrade kit available.

Carey, you are doing a FIRST CLASS job on this project. I am sure all of us following (note the number of hits) this build, find it very interesting. Two Thumbs UP.

Is the HWC carb manifold taller than the red BH Hansen one?
my carb eccentric is rubbing the G30 baseplate well before the carb is tightened down...

doubt it, this one is 14mm edge to edge, this doesn't account for the recess on one side.

do you have both teflon spacers/gaskets installed (one between isolator and cylinder and one between isolator and carburetor?

The hansen block measures 12mm, so that is part of the problem..
yes , I had both teflon gaskets in placeand the carb almost tighten down when the interference happens..
I think the easy fix is to cut away a bit of the eccentric and move forward with the build..I want to get a couple of 813 or 990 carbs anyway
thanks for the hwc block info

After having read through the build about the g30 v2 and the whiplash which heli do you think would be better overall. In terms of durability(both from crash resistance and maintenance), simplicity, quality, and a good design. I don't have access to seeing the two different heli's in person so I am counting on getting good advice from here. Thanks

one of my 2013 projects is to do a full blown Radikal vs Whiplash report.

there isn't a one size fits all answer here, each model has its own merits and areas for improvement.

the radikal weighs less....period.

in my opinion, the whiplash central chassis is a little simpler to build

I had more initial parts quality issues with the Radikal however the mfgr provided replacements that were fine.

the current landing gear design on the Whiplash is vulnerable, they are somewhat brittle and tend to break, although they can be replaced individually and easily. I had problems with the plastic landing gear pieces splitting on the Radikal, also easily replaced.

in current production form, there are at least 3 gearing options for the Radikal. There is currently only one available for the Whiplash

the Whiplash uses very simple direct to swash servo controls, the Radikal uses push-pull bellcranks which will let less expensive servos still work well.

Its easier to get the engine/clutch/pinion alignment done on the Whiplash. The bell/pinion has fixed alignment in the frame and the clutch is essentially a floating/self aligning setup as its the stock Zenoah RC clutch. The Radikal uses a threaded clutch/fan hub assembly so there's really not much alignment that you can do there. The pinion/bell/block assembly mounts into slotted holes so it can be adjusted.

The cooling system used on the Zenoah RC motor in the Whiplash is bulletproof. The fan/shroud/clutch setup that Century developed for the Radikal seems to work just as well

at least at normal on the shelf pricing, they seem to cost more or less about the same.
