Default ES600 -- first unscheduled auto!

From my blog:

Went out to the Berlin field today with my birds. No one there, almost no wind, clear skies, and lots of LiPos!

The ES600 is flying great. She seems a bit slow around the cyclic. I dialed down the expo and that helped but I think I'll also bring in the flybar weights.

Of course, anything compared to my spastic hyped up HDX-450 on 3D crack cyclic is going to seem docile.

Flew for around six minutes. As mentioned before, it seemed as though my tail belt was slipping. I forgot to do maintenance on it but it seemed to be ok...

when I tried a piro from about 30 feet up and the bird kept on spinning! Hit throttle hold and did my first unscheduled auto. The ES600 blades have so much kinetic energy that it was a cinch! Yay!

When I got home, it turned out that it wasn't the belt that was slipping, rather the hold tail boom assembly was loose. Of the 8 bolts that hold the tail boom to the main frame; 2 were missing, and 4 were very loose!

Someone forgot to loctite them! I wonder who that was????

But all is well that ends well, the auto resulted in no damage and I'm getting confidence in this big bird!

I think she's a keeper!

Karen

just don't put too much thread locker on the bolts or they'll strip when you try to take them out. I had that happen once.
