4503d to 450x
To start I am a complete newb to RC ,My wife is sick with Cancer and will not be here much longer. My dad got me a DX6I with a 200srx to have something to keep me from going nuts!Since i have quit my job to be home to take care of the wife. Now for the reason for this post! I was also given a 450 3D and would like to convert it to FBL and would like to keep as much stock as i can (swash plate, shaft) .I have a FBL controller already ( one that i can not talk about here ) Which FBL head assembly would you guys recommend! I know their are a lot of post about this subject but they are all 2-3 yrs old. Thank you

Hi,
Welcome to the forum! RC Flying is good as it gets your head free for some time. Too bad to hear your story...I guess your wife is lucky to have you around. Have you flown the 3d as paddle yet? It doesn`t fly too bad if you are trained with micro helis and a SIM (eg RealFlight). I had checked German forums and tested a little bit around with a “Messinghülse“ and a manual. Was not going that good as the pitch compensator is actively moving up and down. Only for a separator...dunno how it should have been fixed so the washout base does not get out of the rotor head pins. I read people fixed it with 1-2 screw?? How should it then move up and down??? However I did not find a suitable modification solution. It just sound easy... A friend of me got the HH flybarless conversion kit used on e...y. Alu blade holders, different (shorter) main rotor shaft, alu TS, etc. There are some reports with different reports of RJX or Tarot heads. Which may or not fit. Most Blogs sound too complicated as you may need different connectors or shafts. I am not sure if it is worth the efforts?! Sure - if you crash a paddle you always have to fix the flybar. Can be a pain to replace the seesaw holder and bearings too. Flybar setup / binding is more complicated than 450x. I just fly my 4503D with the right elev + roll trimming. Something in the head is a little bit not level / off. But it flys. DS76 servos are not that good. You have to change gears on crash. My tail servo (poti) gave up on reactivation from 2012 crash too. Had to go for H3060. Probably I would just try to get some 450x spare parts from forum users or directly run into a X3. Mabe some guys just alu upgrade... The feathering shaft of the Blade 450 is not very strong and will bend each time on a crash - also light crashes with TH (hold) FBL systems with a self level / rescue like Spirit system, ikon, BD3sx, SK720, beastx plus (pro), Revolectrix co-pilot II....will shortly will pay for its price. You save nerves, time, replacement parts and costs. Do you own a mini quad or NanoCPX as well as? I have never flown a 200srx. It will have probably trained you for good. Greetings from Germany Thomas |
