Blitz Avro Heli

hello everyone,

I will be getting my Blitz kit soon. I have started collecting electronics for it and If I need help I will asking a lot of questions. I will also appreciate if anyone can give me any tips.

I will post pictures as i am building it.

So far I have:
YS SR engine
BLS 451 x 4
Spartan and BLS 251
JR921
MP5 90 Muffler
ATG Governor V2 version
Reactor X
Radix 710mm blades
RJX 104mm CF tail blades
Rotortech FAI sports flybar paddles (heavy)

I am sending my canopy for a paint job, so I will really appreciate if anyone can post some additional pics of canopy, other than whats already on this site.

Good luck with your build. You will enjoy the precision of the parts fit and the build manuals are top notch. The packaging alone is something to marvel at ! I am more than willing to help with any questions that may arise.

How are you guys finding these machines in flight? Some say thay are very heavy?

It's flight characteristics are similar to a MA Fury Tempest FAI as having flown both. The Blitz is very precise in it's ability to perform accurate FF flight and smooth transitions. The overall weight of the machine provides a very stable and predictable flying machine. The head configuration allows variable set-ups for stable, sport and 3D flying. The Avro is somewhat heavier than other 90 size machines hence the quickness of tight fast manuevers is not as prevalent as compared to lighter models. Lightning fast - no, but it does perform beautifully in tracking and precision style flying. It also auto's better than any other helicopter I have flown.

Mine is 5.3 kg all-up flying weight (no fuel), including the rear canopy and a 5000 mAh Outrage RX battery. This compares to 4.7 kg for my 700 with an identical setup. I find the extra weight is compensated by the programmable head - it truly makes it an awesome flying machine.

Whats is the roll rate like at 5.3kg's? I want to use this machine for F3C, i live at high altitude..will it handle the new F3C schedule?

I have started working on the build and its fantastic. All parts fit perfect w/o any modification. My canopy is now gone to painter. will post some pics here. I have modified the landing gear to use the Quick UK wide orange gear and it looks good.

What Governor are u using. I am planning n ATG or GV1. Any suggestions on which one.

I have a GV1 in mine - works great as you don't need more than 2100 RPM on a Blitz.
I found that I needed to trim the fan cover just a tad more than what the included template suggests to get the right fit for the GV1 sensor.

do you think you could get the weight down to 10.5 if you used a mini servo on throttle, and a 7100r with nothing else but rx pack on the front. I have a mini servo on throttle on my 700, with outrage 5000mah pack and switchglow. my trex 700 weights 10lb flat with no fuel. I love the way it flies. but looking over the designs of this it is just beautiful.

I am wondering if you can get +- 13 degrees of pitch and 10degrees of cyclic with the most aggressive settings, and if you can get the weight down to 10.5?

any info would be great

I doubt if you would get it down to 10lb flying weight, that is about 4.54kg.

That would represent a saving of about 800 grams.

I finished my build about a month ago and honestly the heli needs a bit of weight up front to get the CofG correct.
I have a 4000mAh ThunderPower Prolite Lipo, Arizona Reg, and a Perfect Reg glow driver up front plus I have the optional spextrum Rx mounting tray as well. But still my heli is a little tail heavy. I am going to be putting in some lead shot mixed with epoxy into the nose of the canopy to get the CofG spot on.

+-13 deg should be no worries to achieve but it would be totally not needed. 12 should be more than plenty on the Avro. I never tried to see how much cyclic would be max, I set mine up to 8 deg and it is plenty fast enough on cyclic.

well I have +-13 on my trex 700, and it weights right at 10lb with 5000mah outrage rx pack. I also have +- 10 on cyclic. I think I am going to stick with the trex, haven't been able to find any videos of this thing doing some good 3D, the one video posted from the align field, shows that either that pilot doesn't fly very poppy, or the heli is heavy and not very poppy and quick like my trex. it definitely looks to be more of an F3C heli.

+- 13 collective and +-10 cyclic on my 700 rocks, I don't think I would want to fly anything less than 13deg on a heli heavier than the 700.
