Hmmm....did the diode mod on my 4g3.
Used a 1N4004 with the grey band towards the rx (ie output)
Voltage went from 5.01 down to 4.64V??

What did or didn't I do correctly?

Hi,
the voltage drop may vary from 0.6 to 0.8 V. Further the voltage drop is depending on the current used the lower the current the lower the drop .

Test it with a higher current and you will see an increase of voltage drop.

This has to do with the internal currentflow of the pnp layers.
So erverything is cool but you may have a low quality diode.
Anyway i still use four diodes for the servos .
bye JV

+1 ... current needs to be flowing under load to get an accurate reading.

Default desired pitch using FBL mod heads

Hi, i want to share some info about using FBL heads.
I recently installed a heliworx head and was caught in a doubts about the pitchrange.
Its always a hassle if you install somethning new and you find out later that the main shaft is not the right size , if it is too long you can fix it with longer rods ,if it is too short you have to disassemble the whole thing and start doing the whole setup again.I am using a main shaft lenght of 47.5 mm.
So here are the values that you have to meet in order to have a decent pitch range. This will allow you to use 2.5 mm bearing and the thrust bearing , or what ever you like.
To get to the 12 degree pitch range ypu should measure the gap between the lower set ring to the lower end of the rotor head.If you have a reading of min 11.72 mm and your swashplate is not thicker then 4.84 mm you should be fine . The max pitch range will be far off its about 20.1 degrees , positive and negative.Since you need only 12 degrees
you will be fine. Using the pitch caluculation here :http://www.icer.ch/cms/Unternehmen/f...erechnung.html
you will be able to setup your heli perfectly to zero pitch without any tools, just middel the swash on the main shaft, level it , fix the blades on horizontally , cut your rods and the swash will be at zero degree and even tracking is perfect.
Hope that helps

We'll see once I hear back from Hyperion. I'll likely make them myself and sell them for this application. They are 320mah. Discharge is 25C and charge is 6C.

Cool. Hope it's not to much. How much were the cells at a non-dealer price.

I paid about $4 retail per cell + shipping. But then you also have to add the connectors, wire, and time to put them together. They definitely make a wicked battery though.

Default Xtreme frame and full matal tail rotor parts

Hi, today i started assembling those alloy parts from microheli, the metal tail case and the metal tail rotor.
The parts look stable and are lighter than the original plastic parts. The metal tail blade grips have no play and with the metal push arm combined with the metal slider, the tail has no play at all.
But thats one thing, its no plug and play as advertised.
First of all the metal tailcase has flanged bearing as the original but used as they are installed the tail rotor has too much friction and would definately break as soon as used in a 2 s setting. So i modded the whole thing and reversed the flanged bearing on the counterside of the bladegrips. That gave me enough room to let the smaller gear run free without noticing friction.
I used CA to fix the flanged bearing, installed a small hardened washer between bearing and plastic gear and used a small spring to give some tension to the rotor shaft.
This small mod made the tail rotor run as i am used at my bigger helis.
After that i installed the Wolfgang metal gear and assembled the Xtreme frame.
Next time i will report about the main rotor mod with a alloy retainer that let u use a springsteel shaft. This mod will save money since a spring steel shaft cost about 50cts a piece , in fact it is much much harder than a stock one.(.....and no drill holes needed)

Thanks for sharing.

This wasn't my experience at all. Maybe you just got a lemon?

You should probably takes some photos so that the process is easier to understand.

You may even want to consider opening your own build thread to share your experiences in. I am trying to keep this thread specific to my own build and the components used.

Well I guess I spoke too soon. My micro rondo arrived in the mail today, exactly one month from my order date. Not bad for $38 shipping.

CC, yours will be there soon I'm sure, since your order date was close to mine.
