Default dx6 work on a nitro?

Just bought a dx6 for the new features and I'm wondering if I can use it for my 700n or do I need a 7th channel for nitro even though I'm using the built in governor on my Ikon? Thanks!

Yes it will work BUT you might be limited in how you governor operates. I ran a dx6i and a gy701 gov gyro. I only had 1 idle up and it was dependent on throttle position. Now I'm using a dx8 with an ar7200bx and you need 8 channels to use the internal gov. You can get around the limitations but it might limit what gov you use.
Oh, and..... You will LOVE nitro!!!!!!

If you use a FBL like a Spartan Vortex it has its own Gov and bank switching. You can have a normal mode, and a Gov IU mode with the DX6i The Gyro chan 5 controls the Gov and banks. you set the tail gain directly in the vortex.

7 chan be better, 8 and you can use the data pod for Live settings changes while you fly. But a 6 chan will get you flying.

And unlike elec, where you can have 2 gov headspeeds and don't need to use a Normal Mode. Nitro you need a Normal mode for starting, and initial spool up.

Thanks guys. I still have my dx8 and will use it if I have to and sell my new dx6 but I bought the dx6 for the new voice function and wireless buddy box. It would suck to have to sell the new dx6!!

I would not use a transmitter on a large helicopter (450 and up) unless it had an assembled battery pack. If you are using a pack that has individual cells such as AA's you are exposed to a possible catastrophic power failure.

He said why. Give your transmitter a drop while operating... It is much more likely to reset when you have 8 AA connections inside rather than a plugged in battery. Dropping is extreme but a bad fitting battery is a possibility and crashes get expensive on 700s.

Silly logic in my book. If your pack is that loose fitting. Then it's an issue and needs to be fixed. If your shaking your tx hard enough to loose a AA connection. Maybe you shouldn't be flying. Never once did I have a issue with my dx6i and I used it for 4 years and was not gentle with it

The OP is flying a 700. This machine could easily remove your head or that of a spectator in an instant. Anything bigger than a 450 would definitely be painful at best.

The new DX6 has a solid battery pack option. (2000mAh LiIon Transmitter Battery with AC Adaptor Combo: DX6/DX7G2 (SPMA9603)) for $60.

He is flying a machine that easily costs over $1800. So even if a person was really dense about human safety, perhaps they are motivated by self-interest in the wallet.

If he showed up at our field with a 700 and AA batteries I would ask him to leave and I am quite certain our safety officer would back me up.

Once you know the dangers and you continue with that knowledge, that's when it becomes negligence. Hope you have insurance.

The list of things that people used for years without problems will fill many pages, but it means nothing and is a ridiculous argument.

The Dx8 is a really nice TX especially for a 700. The ikon will work a lot better with the extra channels. Do you buddy box that often?

just wondering do you have the bluetooth unit for the ikon? if not i highly recommend. nothing better than whipping out your phone and changing settings on the flight line.
