Default raptor 90 on HV

Can I get away with standard 8717 sevos on 8v or 2s . What servos are you guys running out there on 8v unregulated with any sucess. I dont want to drop $200 per servo on HV servo. anyone?

Hi,

A lot of people here are using regular 8717s with unregulated 2S lipos without any problems.

That being said, please note that no one here can guarantee you that you not have any problems. This is a user risk.

In my opinion if you did not get the servos yet you can check for the Torq line of servos which are HV and same price as 8717s. As with you I too think paying 200$ for a single servo is overkill.

And there is always the LiFe battery option to ease your pain. They have a lower voltage than 2s lipos, can be charged at 5C (15 mins max. to charge a flypack at site). 8717s will have no problem using these.

I have no solid research on this but my concern is people are using 2s lipo 8717s on eccpm machines which will have less servo load per servo than a mccpm machine like Raptor 90. Too much load is the servo killer on high voltage setups and maybe, just maybe this might be a problem.

Cheers !

I am running outrage servos on one of my R90 and i love them have only 8 flights though. But keep it strong on the pitch and you will have a blast. Dont listen to the ccpm guys as keeping it simulere . When working on a mechanical system everything is different.
