Default Elevator Servo & Collective????

I'm trying to figure out some problems for a young friend (15 yrs old) with an mcpx and a DX4e tx.

1. With the blades removed and increase throttle there is no collective movement at all.
2. With the throttle at 0 the AIL & PIT work but ELE doesn't move at all.
3. With the hold button held down ELE will move as well as AIL & PIT but the swash is tilted back toward the ELE side.
4. Had to reverse the AIL switch to get the correct movement left and right.
5. When hold button is held, the blue light doesn't blink and tail & main motor spin up.

I re-bound several times and bound it to my DX8 with the same results. The board had an electric burn smell so I replaced it with a new one and still acts the same.

I'm used to every heli from 450's to 600's but this little bugger has me stumped. Any ideas?

Oh and when I hold the HOLD button, the blue light doesn't bling and throttle still spins the tail and main.

I don't think there is a HOLD button on the DX4e...

Correct...and the trainer button is also used for binding...

So why are you pressing the bind button if the model has already been bound?

I'll consider my hands slapped. Collective is working after the correct bind procedure but the ELE servo is stuck in the down position. Won't move with collective or elevator stick. Is it considered fried or should I try the cleaning method first?

Much thanks for the help.

Try turning of the heli for 10-15 minutes...

Then rebind and try the ELE servo again

Did so and the blue led did a slow blink after pushing the trainer button but the ELE still won't move. By the way, the Booklet does say that the the trainer button is a hold button and the blue led should flash indicating the heli is in hold. This one doesn't flash when I push the trainer button.

Got the hold function working and the ELE servo moves slightly in hold. With hold off - doesn't move at all.

Well...I would say you need a new servo...

I only recommended the time out and rebind because you had it bound to your DX8, which is a digital TX...and the DX4e is analog...

It really makes a difference what mode the DX4e is bound in

Get yourself a servo and have a blast

Cool, thanks for the help. I did see the dx4e is not digital and must be in that mode after binding. Now, to look for a servo.

Thanks,

Ok, I installed a new elevator servo, did a bind to make sure the heli is in NON digital mode (Dx4e) and now have some wacky movements.

1. Sitting static all servos are moving in the correct direction for cyclic but when I apply collective (spool up) the ELE servo looks like it's pulling back. AIL & PIT are moving in the correct direction.

2. With the heli in hold (flashing blue light) all three servos move in the correct direction when I apply collective.

Cannot figure this one out any ideas.

It still sounds like you have not bound this in non-computer mode (not, digital/analog). Try this:

Transmitter OFF, Plug flight battery in.
LED will flash after five seconds, then;
Hold trainer button and turn ON transmitter.
After transmitter lights flash twice;
Rudder full left and release trainer button.
Release rudder after LED goes solid.

My apologies, I meant non-computer mode. The directions say that after binding if the trainer button is depressed and the blue led flashes then it's in non-computer mode (and hold). Just to be sure, I went through the binding again and it seems to work better. He had the straight blades on it and the tracking was way off. I put the spare blades he had with the bullets on the leading edge and tracking is much better.

I'll have to wait for daylight tomorrow to see if these corrected anything.

Thanks again for the help

One more thing. Is the ACT/AUX switch for flight mode for inverted and rolls, etc.?

Yes. That puts you in idle-up. Motor power goes to full. The throttle stick now controls collective pitch. - Look out!
