Default Scorpion HK-4530-540KV (Limited Edition)

Hei all

I have a TDR coming next month and have started to shop in equipment.
Just ordered the 4530-540KV engine and are wondering if you guys have any ESC recommendation for this motor?

Is a Jive 80HV sufficient?

Also what pinion should i be running on this motor?

Thanx all

i've also ordered it. I don't think the jive will be enought for that kind of powerful motor..!

Hi,

with a motor as powerful as the 4530, the Jive80HV really is no option.
Because of the screw-type body, you need at least the 14 teeth pinion, or else the motor will get in the way of the intermediate shaft bearing. Bigger than that is only needed for really high head-speeds

You will definitely need the 120HV for this motor!

Yep 120HV mandatory!

Does anyone know where were the 4525LE made? The 4530 are being wound in germany, I assume they might be done a bit nicer.

The 4525LE if I remember that correctly was wound in China, PowerCroco himself gave advices... there was a post a while back that the guy had to train doing this kind of windings first.

Why assume, there are some excellent products coming from the East.

Doing the windings with accuracy optimises the air flow which makes a noticeable difference. This doesn't mean that's only done by certain people, companies or on certain places in the world...
Just have a closer look at the Standard Pyro and compare it's windings with for example the Black Edition...

i've ordered a 15 T pinion, do you guys think it will be overkill ?
I would like to push hard 3d move but don't want to strip the gears...

Radix 710
voltz 45c
jive 120 or yge 160 don't know yet

greetings,

jerome

Might work fine for RPMs around 1900.
With configuration in my signature and 14T, i still easily touch 100% PWM in Jive in 3D at 1880RPM.
14T is optimal for everything, but 15T will be only for high RPM 3D.
With 15T, you might have a problem to get under 1400RPM with Jive.
Might be different with YGE.
BTW the motor will be more power hungry then my Pyro, which means the battery voltage will drop more, so 15T might really be optimal.

He is talking about the 4530 motor, the KV is 540 so with 15T and 85% around 2150RPM.

Not sure, should be ok with croco mount and proper gear mesh (gear expands a lot when pushing hard)

I am well aware, HC.
That 20KV difference is not that much and my setup behaves as i wrote.
It depends if Jerome wants to do only hard 3D on high RPM or combination with low RPM.
I would not believe what i wrote before owning the JLog, the needed headroom for perfect governor work is quite large.

Merci !
I guess i'll have to stick with the 14 T pinion if i want to slow things down from time to time...!
I also assume 15T will be greatly demanding on the packs.

By the way, today i broke 2 teeth of the main shaft gear. Maybe because of the heat, i hadn't check gear mesh since this winter...

Big time over kill.
I think you will find the batteries will be the weak link when trying to sustain high headspeeds.

I would be surprised if you got much more than about 3 1/2 minutes out of it with a 15 tooth pinion on the motor.

Decisions decisions, Hmmm make a hard core speed machine or just normal flier LOL.
