Default Confused on the Gyro/Flight Mode?

evening guys, I recently got the VX1E. as I was watching bob o in the TX setup vid. he went to the gov. mode screen in his tx, which he said he uses for gyro, during this procedure he was using his flight mode switch to toggle between N 1 2 H, on the data pod it said gyro, N on the data pod was -50 on his tx, 1 on the data pod was 0 on his tx, 2 on the data pod was +50 in his tx, where these his GAIN settings or do you set the GAIN settings on a different screen. I have the new dx7, I don't have a data pod because I was told I didn't need it with the VX1E. hope I asked the question correctly.

I don't use Spektrum, but there is a Spartan article on how to setup the DX7:

Once you have it set, you should be able to see the flight modes changing in the Spartan Studio software in the transmitter setup menu.

thanks for the reply. so in the dx8 example does that mean his GAIN is 50 in normal, 0 in IDLEUP1, and 50 in IDLEUP2?

In the DX8 example it's minus 50 for normal.

Sometimes you need to adjust the numbers slightly as the TX doesn't actually send that exact number to the Vortex. The main thing to do is to use the software to view the live settings and check that it's switching modes as you want.
