Oh, my fist post in this forum. I'm from germany and i fly my diabolo since october 15th and now the heli have 63 flights with the following setup without any problems and enough power:

I was asked about the gear ratios of the Diabolo - here is a copy of some info I posted elsewhere:

First stage has pinions for the motor which range from 15-20t - these mate up with the first stage gear wheel which is 62t. So first stage ratios vary between 3.10-4.13:1 depending on pinion.

The 1st stage has a pinion on it 18t which meshes with the main gear on the mast of 57t so 2nd stage ratio is 57/18 = 3.17. THe final ratio is found by multiplying the two together:

So 1st stage and final ratios are:

15t 4.13:1 13.09:1
16t 3.85:1 12.20:1
17t 3.65:1 11.57:1
18t 3.44:1 10.90:1
19t 3.26:1 10.33:1
20t 3.10:1 9.83:1

The 1st stage shaft has a belt pulley of 39t which drives the tail shaft pulley of 26t so that gives an increase of speed of 39/26 = 1.5 from the 1st shaft which is geared down depending on the motor pinon about ~3.5:1 so final "gearing" from motor to tail is ~3.5/1.5 or about 2.4 - so a motor speed of 20000 with a 19t pinion gives a HS of 1936 and a tail speed of 9202 Interesting to note that changing the motor pinion affects tail speed proportionately more than the HS !!!

If you want to treat the two stage gears as a single stage for ease of use of HS Calcs just input a main gear tooth size of 196 and that will give you your HS with the available pinions

Thought I'd just post my log file from todays flight. Got her up for the first time in about 4 weeks after my crash. First flight buttock clenching in Idle 1, second flight Idle 2 more relaxed and threw it about a bit more. Will get confidence up again soon. First time used the Jlog on the Diabolo. Used the nanotech's , waiting for my new TP 65C 4400 batteries. Motor was hot and esc too. Could just hold my hand on the motor for 5 sec.
