Does anyone know if they are planning on a stretch kit? Or should we just assume? I cant imagine why they wouldnt have just gone with a 12mm shaft if they didnt have plans for an 800.

Not an engineer,.. But a good bit of material was removed for the larger main shaft bearings, plus the three screw holes. Wondering how that's going to hold up to a crash ?

Looks like it will be just fine in a crash. Frames look like they will less Likely break where the skids mount.

55grams additional weight... I can live with that.

Wow, only 55g (< 2oz for us Yanks)? That's not bad at all, considering the improvements. I wouldn't be surprised if the new main shaft weighs about the same as the old one since it's hollow in the 15mm section.

Have they given an estimated ship date yet?

Looking at all these refinements is so interesting. At the same time, bitter sweet. I just rebuilt mine from a crash. Most of the cost went to the tail. Took everything...$200. But I replaced the head block and installed the swash driver lever setup since it bent my grip arms too. Yikes! Cost me almost $800 in repairs (including a new set of blades all around, and a new custom canopy, which will be a dust over when on the shelf, LOL). Extremely meaningful refinements.

As for those sweet carbon skid struts...don't knock the white plastic ones! Mine didn't break even though one of the skid pipes sheared off flush with the strut!

im sure it being only 55 grams is partly due to the skid changes. probably 50 gram loss in those and 100 grams or so gain in the other parts. this also means we can just put the new skids on the original 7hv to get it lighter.

I'm still very happy with my 7HV without a doubt ....... But the Chronos will be my new choice of heli to use this season & next.

Another video of the Chronos in action

EDIT: The orange "windscreen" on this vid looks much better than the red ones in the pics.

Looks great. A nice evolution of the 7HV. Glad to see the larger hollow shafts and beefier swash. Canopy shape is nicer as well, although the color scheme could be better IMHO.

Not only is the swash beefier, but it makes pitch control more linear because the ball-to-ball diameter is the same as the grip arm-to-grip arm distance on the head, i.e. the FBL links are vertical.

The canopy with the orange windscreen looks a lot better than the one with the red windscreen

After seeing the latest vid, I am almost pretty sure I will convert one of my 7HVs to full Chronos

If my 7HV doesn't turn up soon, I'm debating between a Chronos and a DT520E (which can use the same packs) as a second heli to my Atom. I'd love to continue to have a 700 class in my fleet, especially one this sweet, but I'd have to go much further into debt to build another one up.

Damn TheBum, I hope you find your 7HV and convert it to a Chronos instead of getting a different brand heli. Off topic but maybe you can use google maps to get a vector (triangle or rectangle) of where you saw your heli crash and then use a gps app on a smartphone to triangulate the search location within the vector defined in google maps.

I read you lost your 7 Alan, that sucks man.
If you decide you want to build up another Atom as 500 or 5.5 hit me up.
I am considering selling mine plus spare airframe and can hook you up a good deal to help ease your loss.
