Glad it worked for you, it's the first thing I do when I get a new 4#3 or fit a new shaft

Did some further modifications :
pic 1 : coppertape for cooling the motor
pic 2 : to remove horizontal slack of the flybar (I don't like slack/play )

awesome mods Ber60! Can you explain a bit about the mod on pic 2... how does bending one of the holders remove the horizontal slack of the flybar?

I'll try: when you hold the head the flybar can move in the horizontal plane, the links from the Fbar to the SWplate pivot at the holders, bending one of the legs at the same side prevents that pivoting motion and removes the slack on the Fbar

I like the sound of that. Does the metal bend easily enough? How much difference does it make?

Many thanks
Dusty

Tail motors, like main motors seem to vary in quality a bit. Some work better than others. I quite often find I need a different trim setting for the rudder for one tail motor, as I did for the last one, though I find usually that the trim needs adjusted towards the right.

I'd say so long as there is enough trim to hold the tail then don't bother about it, the tail motor won't last forever anyway, and the next one will probably be different

Did it with long nose pliers and it bends easely enough, in stead of 5mm play or + I've reduced it to 1mm

Changed an other modification : fastening those loose blades.
My dexterity isn't so good anymore (like my hearing ) so I've simplified the washer method, I heated my smallest screwdriver and made a "burr" at the root of the blade. Now a have a bit of friction on the blades just like a 3D heli

Got mine, prob around 20 flights and 50 crashes, only a few broken things, none big enough to make it not flyable while waiting for parts. I love this thing

Where can you get a screw driver small enough for these?

This works for everything on a 4#3.

Best screwdrivers I ever owned. The rotating tip is a must, because those tiny screws are gone the second you start to shift your grip.

+1 to another_finn... Wiha are awesome tools.

The "official" proper size is a #000, but you can use a #00 if that is all you have.

#00 sized phillips are common in most "micro screwdriver kits". Look in the "tools" section of any hobby website. Home Depot, Lowes, Sears Hardware, and ACE all sell them to. You can also do an ebay search for "micro screwdrivers".

I'm one of the guys that was raised with a "Craftsman" shop, so I am always a bit partial to Sears... http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0070921x00003a for $3.00

i also like to support small businesses, so I will also throw a shout out to MIA MicroFlight who is selling a #000 screwdriver... scroll down a bit on this page http://www.micro-flight.com/Walkera%204-3.htm for $8.00

I've tried this elastic mod suggested by Bloodholds this is a mod that realy gives an instant difference in control.
The only downside is that to get the small elasic bands some of my wife's panties will drop to her knie's

Hey,

I have seen this a long time ago on some F3C machines, I think even the likes of Wayne Mann tried this many years ago.
But, knowing what your trying to achieve by doing this mod, eg. removing any slop, I dont think it works in this configuration to remove any in all honesty.

I can't see if there is a rubber band on the rear of the swashplate where there is no link supporting the swash, if there is one then great this is where this type of mod will help but not on the links unless yours are very loose?
.
