Pinion / Gearing / Govenor
I'm working on transitioning my 425 stretched to mid-boom setup.
I have a variety of motors (Gaui 850, Hyperion 3026-1210, & re-wound to 947kv "Z20") & gears and pinions. I'm currently using the Z20 with 16/50/20 gearing. Optical tach HS is 2100 @ 90% flat TC. My question is does it matter what motor / gearing I use to achieve a given HS? Is it better to run a smaller Pinion say, and then have the other gearing setup to get to the HS desired? Also I have read that BL motors want to run at or near their full-speed mode to get best efficiency. This works for non-Gov mode I assume, but if you want some "headroom" in Gov mode using something like an 80% TC, is this causing the motor to run inefficiently? Has anyone used a Hyperion 3026-1210 in a mid-boom setup? I bought this used hoping it might have a bit more power than the re-wound Z20. Thanks for your input. |

Yeah I used one - it worked nicely, more power than my Z20A from memory |
