So dont expect to simply be able to drop a 6s battery in and get similar performance.
most 600/700/800 helis can run a 6s without changing anything.... however those with low tail ratios like a trex 600 dfc will often put a longer set of tail blades on to help counteract. and sometimes put a bigger pinion on, to raise the headspeed slightly, so instead of 1100 it's 1200 or whatever.

the 600 DFC has a VERY low tail ratio (only 3.85 ) so it is designed for very high headspeed on 12s (around 2450) which means that on 6s, it has enough headspeed at 100% that it actually holds fine.

the 6hv is usually flown around 2200, which, with a low ratio like the 600 align would not be enough on 6s for the tail to hold. however the 6HV has a higher tail ratio, so even though the headspeed on 6s will be lower than the 600 align, the tail will hold well because the tail ratio is faster.

attempting to run a huge amount of pitch would actually be worse, because it would create a massive amount of torque which even long tail blades could not counter act.

the key to getting a heli that will perform well at low headspeed is for it to be geared for high headspeed with the normal battery. because, higher rpm means having to use less pitch which means less torque, also, it means higher tail rpm which helps the tail hold

on my 450, it's very hard to fly it on 3s when I have it geared for 3000rpm on 6s, because it's an 11t pinion, but when I fly it at 3700rpm on 6s I use a 14T pinion, which yields much many more rpm on 3s at 100%.\

sorry for wall of text, I am very good at talking/typeing too much

Indeed but you missed the point i was making

Being able to fly the heli is one thing, but when you see guys flying quite hardcore 3D at super low headspeeds they do that by running huge pitch. If you just dropped a 6s battery into a typical 12s heli you just wouldn't have the sort of collective 'punch' that you see in those videos.

And yes, as i said you then have to gear up the tail or use larger blades.
