Default Whiplash 90N Excessive Play on the Tail Drive Train?

If I hold the main rotary head tight and then manually rotate the tail rotor, it can still rotate a bit roughly 1/16 I think. Is that play too much that I need to address? The reason being that I am still having the occasional tail kicking issue that I could not figure out when it came from. The kicking does not happen all the time. Sometimes, it never happened in a couple of flights, but sometimes, it could happen a couple of times in a single flight.

the play is there for gear mesh. there should be that much .. tail kick isnt that play ... esp under load the gears are locking with each other pretty well.. so that 'slop' isnt an issue.. I wouldnt think

Another place to get slop in the tail drive is in the torque tube it self. I have had screw holes (where you screw in the tips) enlarge over time. That allowed the torque tube tips to twist some in the torque tube.

Couldn't tail kick be electronics related?

The stock gears are setup with very loose gear mesh, espcecially between main and the straight cut gear in the front transmission. I saw that play in the tail even brand new. If you think thats bad you should see my TRex 700 you can turn that tail almost a 1/4 turn.

The new gears that are coming from Germany are made with much tighter mesh (I saw some in person Monday). You can contact Josef and get a set.

I also agree to check the TT. Not only can they loosen up, I had mine start to back out on me, even with loctite. I ended up loctiting and putting heat shrink over the bolts to hold it.
